Guest guest
Hi Connie,I gotta tell ya, I have a Mac, I had about 16 Macs and the one thing I've always been real good at is fixing any software glitch or problem... BUT,as the Macs and software evolved, somewhere along the line they got smarter and smarter, making me look dumber and dumber... :-) Today, I really have to research to fix a problem that just a few years ago was a no brainer for me... I really think these computer boxes don't like us!I always name my cars and they always treat me with respect! Maybe I should do the same for ole Harriet here! I better be careful, she knows what I am typing.... Hehehehe!Yes, these computers are working at making your poorer by spending more and more money on them! And speaking about mothers, uh, that is motherboards.. On my last Mac, it just died... So I went to the Apple Store, they came back with an estimate of $1300 for a new motherboard... The same computer new was $1299!! Gosh, them there are " spensive parts!!So I do hear you, probably as we sleep, these dumb boxes are working on tomorrow's conspiracy!! Thanks for the good laughs!! I was having a tough Lyme day before you came along... !!Jim :-) OT: to Jim - wide emails Message List Reply | Forward Message #8748 of 8751 < Prev | Next > Re: OT: to Jim - wide emails Jim, I'm glad I made you laugh. I swear, if there's anything that can get me riled up it's a computer. I'm usually easy going and nothing much bothers me but........when mycomputer turns against me that's a whole nother story. The only problem with that is.. I get mad but don't know how to fight back. They are waysmarter than I am so they always win. I have 3 laptops and believe it or not they have all been in the shop recently. One I gave mydaughter and it's getting a new hard drive. My " new " one just had to have a new mother board but thank goodness it was still under warranty. The other one I forget what was wrong with it. We just had to buy a new computer for the business, too So see, the conspiracy is that they are trying to spend what little money I have. Oh, and another one at the business just gotfixed. Whew, I don't know what is going on. Conspiracy I tell ya. LOL ConnieOn Fri, Jan 29, 2010 at 6:46 PM, Jim in Jax wrote: Well Connie, You just increased my endorphins and oxygen levels.. Every time I think I have my computer outsmarted, it teaches me a lesson and show me just how dumb I can really be... :-)Oh, and I'll settle for conspiracy, all these computers are against us!! LOL! Well, thanks for the laugh... I have had so many problems in the last month or so, too. Even the computers at our business have gone crazy. What is going on? Listen to what happened to me last night. I just got my computer back from being fixed and the guy told me I need to keep up with all the updates. I get this message saying I need to update windows service pack 2 or something like that. It's a 3 part update and it does 1 and 2 just fine. It gets to 70% on 3 and just sits there for like 2 hours not moving. Of course, it says do not shut down so I call my computer guy and he tells me to turn it off and start it back up in safe mode and then to uninstall it. I got as far as starting it in safe mode and it goes right back to installing the update. It's started moving now and gets it done or so I think. It says it didn't install properly and it starts uninstalling it. It's taking forever so I do the safe mode thing again and when it comes back up it's still uninstalling. There's no way to get out of there so I wait for it to finish thinking it's just uninstalling the updates. Guess what it did? It uninstalled windows. I had nothing there when it got done. Something crazy is going on for sure. Maybe it is a conspiracy. I've never had anything like that happen before. I sent it back to the computer guy again today so he can reinstall it and try to speed it up for me. I've had two friends, who are both full time computer guys look at my comp. They can't find anything wrong. They are both advising me to upgrade to Windows 7 " It will solve all my problems " . My assistant said, 'Isn't it interesting that we began having so many problems about the same time Windows 7 is released?' Then, last night I was speaking to my book keeper and she said that many of her clients are complaining of computer glitches the last month. I'll keep ya'll posted. ~T From: Jim in Jax To: Lyme and Rife Group thane <Lyme_and_Rife > Sent: Wed, January 27, 2010 11:39:19 AMSubject: Re: OT: to Jim - wide emails Hi Lena, Well I am really not trying to be a sprawler... :-) I just wish we could figure out what is causing this...I am actually reading sprawls from other posters, so it baffles me as to what it is... And started not too long ago, I know I am not doing anything different, been using the same postingformats since the group started... And what else is weird, a few of my posts I've read have sprawl, yet others don't! Go figua! I've eventried typing in a WP, then copying to " Mail " and it doesn't seem to matter, same results... Be well,Jim OT: to Jim - wide emails Message List Reply | Forward Message #8521 of 8588 < Prev | Next > Re: Re: OT: to Jim - wide emailsHey Jim, We're glad to hear from you any way we can. if you sprawl clear to the horizon, we'll scroll on out too read your wisdom! Incidentally, this post was fine. Be well,Léna Hey ,Thanks! I was getting gun shy of posting.. :-) I actually was trying different ways to post, hitting reply, using a word processor, opening a new posting page and I don't even know if I am the problem! This can be a Yahoo problem as it seems to have started 3 - 4 weeks ago best I remember.. AND, I am seeing this from other posters, not just mine.... I wonder also I am using GMail, wonder if receiving our posts in GMail may be the problem? Thanks,Jim> >>>>> >>>> Hi Jim, > >>>> > >>>> I was just wondering if you are posting your conversations differently. Some of them come through great on my computer, the text wraps nicely, and others the text doesn't wrap and I have to scroll way to the right. It's really weird because it's not all of them. > >>>> > >>>> I've been trying to adjust on my end, but I can't so far. So, I was thinking, maybe he's using different devices (iphone, laptop, desktop). I changed computers today, and am having the same problem.
