never have I found the answer to the question if it interfears or

alters the effect of meds. I don't find it addressed in either anyone

ever actually read if it effect meds or not? I wonder if

Bradley can answer that question over on the silverlist.

I have not seen any drug interactions mentioned either, except that it

can enhance the penetration of drugs it is mixed with.

Having asked this on the silver list with no response, I'd still like to

know whether one should avoid using DMSO topically on spider bites.

Garnet mentioned that DMSO releases histamines in the case of insect

stings and therefore should not be used in that case. However I'm still

unclear as to whether spider venom is the same sort of animal. If its

anti-viral, why wouldn't it break down venom?

Also does putting meat tenderizer on a spider bite supposedly work

because the venom is a protein? One protein operating to break down

other proteins?

Papain is suppose to break down venom protiens.

I am not sure of its use in bites and would not want to spread the

poison they inject. Discussion of breaking down the venom with

electricity is interesting, Google on Stun gun and spider bite.

Stun guns from Nova Technologies are recommended

I use straight household ammonia on scorpion stings, they go numb in two

minutes anyway, but immediately application of just a drop of ammonia

stops the pain. Also kills chiggers.

Personally, I don't think I would want to use DMSO any place that a toxin

was present. It causes other chemicals to penetrate not only the skin, but

through the body.
