Davina--That sounds really familiar to me! I have several " nosy " kids

myself--typical AND delayed. They might be easily distracted, bored,

overstimulated,

ADD or ADHD--there are lots of reasons kids act this way. The way you try and

help them with their " inattention " varies with the reasons behind it. You'd

NEVER treat a kid who is bored in class because he has an IQ of 150 and is not

being challenged, in the same way you'd treat a kid with an IQ of 40 who is

drifting around because she has no clue what's going on around her. Same for a

kid with TRUE ADD/ADHD--they literally CAN'T stay still, and to try and make

them do that actually LESSENS their ability to learn! Yet some kids with mild

ADD/LD do better if they are sat behind a " study carrel " or barrier, and allowed

to work alone, with minimal distractions. Hopefully, between you and the

teacher and anyone else involved, you can decide WHY your son is behaving this

way.

Then you can come up with some ideas to try and remedy the problem. Hope I

helped a little and didn't just confuse you more!

Debbi

My husband was in the Navy and he was in the Nuclear program. He also

attended A school. He was stationed in Florida. I believe they closed that

base down. After he finished his A school and power school we were

stationed at the Norfolk base. He's been out of the navy for 7 years. My

husband was on the USS Enterprise as a nuclear electronic tech.
