Guest guest
Sue, I have no idea what your new rheumy is talking about when he said " enbrel it is way too addicting and too many patients have a problem being weaned off it when need be " ...... Maybe he got enbrel mixed up with something else??? I dont know of anything in enbrel that would even be considered addictive, and doctors dont have to wean those off of enbrel, if enbrel doesnt work they just stop taking it. Simple as that.... Anyone out there know anything about enbrel being addictive?????
Guest guest
Jenn... I have never heard anything regarding Enbrel and addiction. As you know, I was on it for a long time. If " addictive " means I relied on it to keep my disease under control, then by all means I was addicted. But as far as there being any habit-forming properties of this drug...no way. I'll just bet there is some mix-up here. Stay healthy
Guest guest
Jen I know.....I talked to Bridget last night and she said the same exact thing. This guy came from UCONN Medical Center, so I don't know where he got that from, or thought that I said something else, but when I am to see him again, I am going to present him something from off this site. Jen, I was so ready to " ream " it to him, sort of speak, that I need something very bad, and he said, no.....you are going on " plaquenil " ............Why is this so damn difficult and frustrating for me? I don't understand why I am being hassled so much. I guess that I will have to YELL a little louder to them and really start speaking up for the way that I feel, although, I thought that I already had that covered. Anyway, I will keep you posted. This morning I thought that I would feel a little bit better about this whole thing, and now......I am mad from the foundings that I have found. Guest guest
I have researched *everything* I could get my hands on about the Enbrel. Have been doing this since it was approved as a new drug use for RA, etc. There wasn't *anything..anywhere* that said the Enbrel is addictive or that when someone needed to stop taking it, they needed to be weaned off of it. Your doc must be mistaken. I am in total agreement with Jenn, he must have it mixed up with another drug. Guest guest
I chatted with Sue on yahoo messenger last night and her Doc thought Enbrel was a narcotic, a pain medicine. Do we have info on our site about Enbrel? I was going to send her one of my pamphlets from the box. I can't access any of the info on the site. It always says..oops! you're not on the list. Guest guest
Well that's hard to belive that a Rheumatologist of all people would think enbrel was a narcotic!!!!!!! I mean geez!!!! Let's hope not, let's hope that he misunderstood what she asked for, or maybe some other type of misunderstanding. Anyway Sue dont worry about it, try the plaquenil, give it a few months, if you are no better then move on to something else.
Guest guest
I said the very same thing to Sue. I think he just didn't hear her correctly. I've had docs listen to whole sentances and never really hearing me. Know what I mean?
