Guest guest
I agree with regarding the pace and intensity of the different tapes. I like the length of the advanced, but they still challenge me...in other words, I have plenty left to work on and refine. With the Basic 1 which I follow with the 8-minute, I focus more intensely on form due to the slightly slower pace. BL1 is kick-a*s...an excellent workout. Don't be afraid of the Advanced tapes. Get AL1 or 2 and do what you can. Challenge yourself! You won't know if you can or can't do it unless you try. I periodically hit pause and walk for a few seconds, then get back into the workout. We need to push our limits and test our wills! I got the AL3 tape the other day. I watched it. I realize that watching and not doing scares me...the workout seems more than I think I can handle, but I'm wrong! I can handle it. So, if you order a new tape, just put it in the vcr and go. AL3 is more like the Studio Advanced...it's more isometric than AL1 and AL2. They're all good! :-)
Guest guest
Hi Guys, I do the Advanced but prefer the Basic. I don't see anything wrong with doing the Basic only without the Advanced. It's a great workout and will work you out enough during the week. I just recently tried the Basic Live 1 and it's right in between the Basic and the Advanced. More of an Intermediate than a Basic I find...so if you want to step up a bit from the Studio Basic, try one of the Basic Live tapes next and then if you want to, go for the Advanced. I have oftentimes done the Studio Basic with the floor work of the Studio Advanced because I just find the Advanced to be too much.....after 9 mths, I still can't get thru the Studio Advanced entirely and have to work at my own pace in several areas (including using a chair for some of the kicks). When you're ready, go for the Advanced, until then, the Basic is great!!!!!!! Rhonda wrote: No Sandy, you are not the only one who is afraid of the Advanced tapesI break out in a cold sweat just thinking about ordering them. I read in 's book, if you start walking thru the moves or doing them with less intensity or sloppily either slow it down or even start walking till you have regrouped cuz a clumsy punch or kick is not doing anything & is actually draining your energy instead of recharging you. Also the pull back reaction after executing a kick or punch is just as important as using your full range of motion for the push out part of a kick or punch. does emphasize always getting the full range of motion to be aware of what your body is doing & using. Barb who finds myself aware of this (what muscles are working) even when not working-out, making my posture better and even getting full range of motion in everyday movements & may contribute to my dwindling back problems

When I preview a tape, I think no way can I do most of it then I try it and surprise myself. Remember too, alot of the Advanced tapes can be split into 2 work-outs if you have less time or want to do the half with more intensity. Just use your favorite warm-up or cool down routine from memory. The book helps to make folks realize that the work-outs were not designed for folks to step right into and accomplish 100%. It sort of removes the feeling of failure and replaces it with a feeling of success. Remember those folks on the frontline of the work-outs are mostly certified instructors who have been Tae Boing for months if not years. They are professionals & have been pushed to their limits gradually. I wish would make an hour work-out at a slower pace which would be a tremendous intermediate work-out. Funny thing is that the 8 minute work-out is supposed to be tougher than the Advanced according to the book and I found the 8 minute work-out easier than the Basic cuz of its shortened time as did my folks in their 70's. Also I found doing the Instructional tougher than the Basic cuz of its slowed repetitions cuz sometimes holding a pose can be tougher than continuing with the movement. Barb who just loves the feeling of doing a work-out with high intensity and confidence but likes to feel challenged too so prefers to alternate Basic and Advanced work-outs and thinks an intermediate work-out or 60 minute Basic speed would be the perfect combo AKA:POMBarb Barb's Places on the web

Guest guest
Barb, Yeah, I've been reading 's book too and I read that about pushing/pulling. I didn't mean to imply that I wasn't focusing on the moves because believe me I am definitely focusing on every single punch/kick. It's just that with the basic I can use a little more " intensity " ...don't know if that's the right word...because it's not as challenging to me cardiovascular wise. I guess what I'm saying is that the way I make it more challenging for me is to really give that punch that little extra uumph. Which is not to say that when I do the advanced I don't do the same thing because I still try to use the same focus/energy, but because of the tempo it's just a different type of focus. However, since reading the book, I have started to do some of the things at my own pace, like the roundhouse kicks to each side, where sometimes I just can't keep up with the tempo on the tapes without sacrificing form. I am much more focused on the kicks and if I am doing them properly now. I guess that's because I finally " really " understand the difference between the roundhouse kick and side kick. Anyway, I recommend 's book to everyone. It is a great motivating tool and really explains the difference between a lot of moves with great pictures of how each move should look. I have just gotten up to the workout part and can't wait to keep reading. Go out and buy it now...you won't regret it. Guest guest
I'm so glad it's not just me. I've been doing Tae-bo for five months and I keep thinking will I ever make it through the advanced with all the repetitions, my goal is to be able to do it by my one year anniversary. Guest guest
You guys aren't kidding! The Advanced tapes are definatly hard! Because I have 2 young children (one only 8 months old), I can only do the Basic tapes during the week. Then, if I have someone to keep the baby occupied for an hour, I will do an Advanced tape on the weekend. The live tapes are a lot harder, in my opinion, than the regular basic. I love it! I really put a lot into it and I can feel it later! What a great way to get in fit!!! Sherry M --- Roxanne Delorme wrote: > > Hi Guys, > > I do the Advanced but prefer the Basic. Here's how you get back on track: Get up right now, put the tape in the VCR, and just do it. It's so simple and yet so hard. But once you get that first workout under your belt, each one becomes easier. Remember... the Basic tapes are only 30 minutes long. We can all find 30 minutes in our day to do this if we really want to. It's almost 10 p.m. here in Detroit, and I'm just now getting around to my workout.
