Guest guest
Hi, We are really excited as we may have found a surgeon who can put Abi in the right cast in England. Has anyone heard of Stuart Tucker who works out of the Wellington Hospital in London? We asked him the following: 'Abigail has ideopathic infantile scoliosis, is 22 months old and has a double curve, the worse being lumbar with an angle of 54 deg and RVAD of 20 deg. We want to find an orthopaedic consultant who has fitted and can fit to Abi a corrective EDF plaster jacket as per Miss Min Mehta's specifiation. The jacket would be applied under general anaesthetic with the patient on a Cotrel frame. X rays before and after are required. Because of Abi's age she needs to be in a proper jacket as soon as possible. She is currently fitted with a plaster jacket which has a tiny hole for her tummy and no cut out at the back for correction of the twist in her spine - and clearly not correcting as much as it could. She's been in it for two weeks (her first jacket) and we've decided that we want her attended to properly. We understand the jackets will need replaceing every couple of months.' He has confirmed he can do the above. Can anyone think of what we have forgotten to ask? Just have to get Abi's daddy to remember she is actually 21 months at the end of this week but he has been so dedicated to finding her treatment can forgive him anything :-) Really really hoping this is the one!
