Guest guest
I would encourage you to get your adrenals tested. You guys know that I was all about hormones until I ran across Lyme. Orthostatic hypotension (OH), which is what causes you to get dizzy upon standing up from a lying or sitting position, is an adrenal problem. The adrenal glands are hugely important in maintaining blood pressure. When you stand from sitting, your blood pressure is supposed to rise. In OH your blood pressure drops, causing the dizziness. Salt helps, but I was just reading that salt does little in the overall blood pressure – it only accounts for maybe 4-8 pts in the typical diet. Those of us on Salt/C will probably have more significant measures – maybe even up to 15 (but this is just conjecture). Because you are already on Isocort, any saliva test will have to be interpreted by someone who knows how to do that while taking steroids. Normally you’d want to be off of any and all steroids for at least 2 weeks prior to saliva testing. However, if you have a blood pressure machine and a thermometer, you can get a really good idea of where your adrenals and thyroid stand. I’ve used this to determine where my adrenals and thyroid are for well over a year now. It is amazing how it correlates to how I’m feeling! Here are the links… http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/temperature/ and http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/. Janie (the creator of the stopthethyroidmadness site and book) found out that her hormones are messed up because of Lyme. Very interesting indeed. By the way, Isocort was tested by a doctor and found to only have about 1mg cortisol per pill, not the 2.5mg it claims. Even so, at 8 pills you may be getting only 8mg, or at most 15mg. Most people with Adrenal Fatigue seem to need about 25-30mg before noticeable differences are seen. If you look at Adrenal Fatigue in general, it’s almost exactly all the same symptoms as Lyme – at least for me it is and I usually have 80% of the symptoms on any Lyme or Adrenal Fatigue symptom list. Here’s a GREAT site on Adrenal Fatigue… http://www.drlam.com/articles/adrenal_fatigue.asp. Dr. Crist, an LLMD, says that treating hormone imbalances is one major factor in treating Lyme… http://www.drcharlescrist.com/hormones.htm. And lastly Dr. Holtorf, who is an infectious disease doctor, has a great site too. He is my main source of info on Reverse T3 (which an abundance of RT3 is caused by stress like Lyme or starvation and causes all sorts of issues). His info on Lyme is very much in line with what I think most of us know and believe. He’s something of the ‘whole package’ IMHO, but I’ve heard he’s a bit gruff in person. I sooo want to see him – I’d love to know his thoughts. http://www.hormoneandlongevitycenter.com/thyroidtreatments1/ and http://www.hormoneandlongevitycenter.com/lymedisease/. Anyway, you know I say this because I care. I only want us all to get better. Fixing my hormones helped me tremendously, but because Lyme keeps them off balance, I have to kill the Lyme before I can get them back to normal. That’s my goal right now – kill Lyme! I'm teaching my love to play golf and when we go to the practice range we notice a funny familiar pattern. Within 15 minutes of me starting to pound golf balls into the stratisphere (about 300 to 320 yards) almost all the other men leave the range. Finally one of them came over to us and asked me to teach him and when we asked him why everyone kept leaving soon after we came he replied that no one wants to watch a 63 year old man knock the ball 50 to 150 yards past them. So this disease has really been a blessing because it's taught me how to stay strong and flexible and a lot of it has to do with herbs and enzymes. We lose 90% of our enzyme production by the time we're 28 so replacing them is crucial. Also getting so sick helped me value being well and steeled my determination to be well again. I must also say that despite the fact that it cannot be quantified I feel strongly that life is mostly just energy and to that end it is probably very important to develop a spiritual and mental aspect to connect to power and guidance that is beyond our own ability. Guest guest
From a hormone perspective, it can be because there is cortisol being excreted at night, when it shouldn’t be. Cortisol is highest in the am and tapers off to very minimal amounts at night. If your hormones are screwed up, you can be reversed, having very little during the day and too much at night. Cortisol is what wakes you up in the morning! If you are getting a shot in the middle of the night, it will wake up you. I’m relying on my memory for that, so it may be a bit off! It could be the adrenaline too. All I know for sure is low cortisol during the day would make you wake early and often in the middle of the night. I used to do that, but I pretty much sleep through the night now since my cortisol is taken during the day and my night production of it has reversed. Having very little cortisol during the day will cause you to have too much adrenaline (trying to compensate for lack of cortisol). That’s what gives you the wired but tired feeling. People with adrenal fatigue usually feel better after about 6pm and generally consider themselves night owls. This is because food makes you release cortisol, and after your evening meal you’ve finally made enough cortisol througout the day to finally ‘wake up’. As I told Cheryl, Isocort was tested to not have the 2.5mg of cortisol it claims – it’s more like 1mg. Taking 4mg, even if it had the 2.5mg, isn’t enough if you have adrenal fatigue. There is this weird thing that happens when you take cortisol. Your body gets used to what you are putting in it, so it reduces it’s endogenous production. In other words, say your body normally makes 40mg a day. If you start taking 10mg cortisol, for a short time you’ll have 50mg availalble. But if you continue to take that 10mg for a while, your body will down regulate and start making only 30mg, because you are supplying the other 10mg externally. To get over this, you have to take a full physiological dose – you’d have to take more than your body’s normal production of 40mg in order to have more available in your system for use. That’s why people feel good when they first start taking cortisol – it is a bit extra in their system! But then their body adapts and they go back to ‘normal’. Cortisol is needed to use thyroid hormones effectively. Thyroid is important in cell metabolism – that’s the ATP cycle and is what gives you energy and drives cell functions. Without thyroid, your cells don’t work right and without cortisol, thyroid can’t get into the cell to be used. (Which reminds me I need to post about ATP cycle! I just can’t seem to get my thoughts organized enough to do that!) All that being said, try to take a few more Isocort to see how you feel. If you feel better, then you need it! Of course, after a while your body will adapt and you’ll need more. This is what happened to me. I started out with Isocort, but very quickly it became obvious that it wasn’t enough. I was super scared of taking cortef, but I am well over that fear now. I attribute my feeling as good as I do to cortef, thyroid and florinef because that’s all I took in the beginning – I took no supplements for months. The supplements I take now help too, but nothing made me feel as good as getting the proper hormones in me! Again… just trying to help. Guest guest
I totally understand, . My ND did the testing about 5 years ago. It was so expensive to go to her, that I only went about 5 times and had to quit. She is the one that did the testing and put me on Isocort, Progon B and Phyto B (hormones). Of course, we didn't have Lyme in the mix at that time - she is not LLND. I agree with you, I want to kill the LYme so that when I get to go back and get retested, we can actually rectify the situation and not keep putting band-aids on it. Until then, I am not sure what to do, but keep killing Lyme and keep taking the dosages she recommended and try to stay some what status quo. From time to time I have added Himalayan rock salt to my water to try and feed my adrenals. I should be more consistent with that. What do you think? I am open to your ideas - you are knowledgeable and much appreciated! Lena: has better input as to taking Isocort in the night. Sounds like we need to be doing something more during the day to get our cortisol turned around! Thanks for all the time you take, , to help us out! Cheryl I would encourage you to get your adrenals tested. J Love you guys… J From: Lyme_and_Rife [mailto:Lyme_and_Rife ] On Behalf Of Cheryl Young Sent: Tuesday, January 05, 2010 9:22 AM To: Lyme_and_Rife Subject: Re: OT: Location of your store Thanks, . I hope you don't mind, but I sent your story to my kids and husband. It truly was inspiring an amazing. That was interesting about sleeping with your head elavated. I have to stand by my bed, hanging on with my eyes closed for a few minutes most mornings till my blood/head equalize. I take 8 Isocort every day as it is! I was interested in the Excedrin - did that have something to do with your adrenal/blood pressure or was that for the pain? I might try setting the Isocort by my bed and taking it before I get out - good idea. Wonderful to hear how well you are doing!! Cheryl Hi Cheryl I'm taking Nattokinase, Serrapeptase and Wobenzym N Can't say if they're the best but I just wanted to start taking some to suppliment my dwindling natural supply. Look around because the prices can vary a bit. Can't remember where I got them now as I bought a lot of each to stock up. I found that if I cut down or eliminated dairy and sugar my migraines dissapeared for the most part. I must be allergic to that stuff but I think the sugar high really feeds the migraine mechanism. I didn't feel like exercising but the pain really began to subside when I just started walking 30 minutes a day then got it up to 60 minutes. I would get most of the pain in the morning but found it would lessen as I was more active during the day so I just decided to exercise even though it was painful at the beginning. It has really helped - far more than I would ever have thought. Now I also work out with weights 2 to 3 times a week. I NEVER feel like it but when I force myself to do it I get better and better each day. My guess is that it is strengthening my own defense mechanisms and in the end I do think it's our own bodies that will ultimately defeat this disease. We certainly can't afford to wait for the medical community other than a few dedicated homeopaths. I also found it was better if I slept in a partial sitting position. I would prop up a bunch of pillows and sleep at about a 45 degree angle. This seemed to help when my adrenals were way out of whack. I found my blood pressure would be the opposite of what it should be. It would go up when I laid down and go down when I stood up and it should react opposite to that. This way my blood pressure didn't fluctuate as much and it was easier to get up in the morning. I would also keep a couple of execedrin and a few Isocourt by my bed and take then about 15 minutes before I had to get up to get my blood pressure more stabalized. It just helped with the shock each day of getting up. Got to run but thanks for the encouraging words. I just hope it keeps going. I do have a friend who was very sick with Lyme and he was able to get rid of it through herbs, good food and exercise so I have hope. We'll see. It has been quite an interesting journey and has helped with the healing process. I no longer feel like there is no end to the black hole; I know that as long as I keep moving towards health it will move towards me. That is how I look at it anyway - each of us is on our own journey. I am going to save your e-mail, , as it was truly inspiring! You should write a book about your experiences. I've been exercising every day and am slowly getting my life back. I'm taking MMS but with prune juice to go easy on my tummy. I take herbs with no exact order - whatever feels right. Exercise is helping A LOT! I know this may sound outrageous, and I DON'T want anyone to try it, but a certain person tried to poison me with arsenic and she almost succeeded. However if you remember the story " Out of Africa " which was a true story about Isak Dinesen - she got syphilis from her husband and she went home to England for the cure. Syphilis is also a spirochete like Lyme and the treatment for syphilis is to take arsenic to the edge of death. Either you die from arsenic poisoning or it kills the syphilis and you live. Well two doctors told me I was almost dead but as luck would have it my system held on (the detoxing was HELL ON WHEELS) as the spirochetes must have been dying in droves, but I do believe the crazy bitch who tried to kill me has actually saved me. I'm getting stronger by the day and can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. Unfortunately it's not something I can prove or recommend but as chance would have it what goes around actually does come around and life does take care of those who mean well. I never did anything to her but be kind and generous and she decided to kill me because I didn't want to live with her (small wonder since the wacko is capable of murdering her sons father). So I am returning to my old self now and everyone around me can see it. I still have some small symptoms but I'll take care of them with MMS, herbs, enzymes, and Rifing. By the way anyone who is Rifing with 's Stolars machine be sure you keep the Frequency calculator he sends you IN THE FOLDER and do not drag it out of the folder and put it on the desktop or you will get the wrong frequencies. Anyway I'm very busy these days and stay in touch by reading the posts but as you can see I don't have much to share that others can use. Although I did make great progress with herbs, MMS and the Rife machine. I want to tell everyone to be careful with the Salt/ Vit C protocol as it can cause circulation problems if done to excess as I did it. I think in moderation it is fine. It's funny how a curse can turn into a blessing sometimes if you just refuse to give up. I now look forward to the next 40 years of my life because I am determined to acquire robust health and keep it until I'm well over 100. I work with 2 guys in their twenties and at 63 I'm stronger than they are. Exercise and weight lifting along with systemic enzymes is a large answer along with juicing and good food I think. I'm not trying to convince anone but for those of you who already feel there is a power greater than you I highly recommend you tap into that power to guide your recovery. I can't stress this enough where I am concerned because when all seemed hopeless I kept going on the faith that something larger than me was guiding me. I'm not trying to preach in any way - I'm allergic to preaching - but I've been sober for 37 years in AA and it is a basic spiritual program that I was fortunate enough to embrace. When all else failed I just turned it over to a higher power and was taken on a jouirney I certainly would not have chosen or forseen. In the end my life definitely works better when I tap a power in the universe that is greater than I am. Star wars called it The Force but I doubt it cares what you call it. And like electricity it works when you flip the switch even if you don't believe it. For those not desperate enough to use such stuff just disregard this last bit. I just wanted to be totally honest about what I believe has gotten me through this god awful disease. I'm still truckin and if it takes a turn for the worse I'll let you know but for now it's definitely getting better every day. We're going to be online in about 3 months so you'l be able to get a new food that's out that is great because it's not only grain free but potato free as well. The high glycemic index of the white potato has been causing some of the dogs problems. The sugar definitely adds to the gas problem. This food is called Great Life and in addition to being grain free and potato free it has a viable enzyme coating. It's the ONLY dry that does. Our 20 year old dog has had a loose stool for the last year but when we added Great Life to his diet his stool was fine in 2 days and has been good ever since. Guest guest
hi lena i have a big time problem sleeping without a high protein supper - which is low blood sugar related. i was so excited the other week when i slept 8 hours straight - i had done 2 niacin followed by eggnog. doc said it was the l-tryptothane in the milk that did it... i tried that for a week or so with limited sucess... i think the milk clogged up the liver... but if you do try it, she said you need something with HIGH FAT CONTENT - don't get the one percent - get the full milk. carol Guyot Léna wrote: Hi Cheryl, You got me to thinking. Guest guest
Carol: I wanted to thank you for forwarding the foot bath plans to me. Come to find out, I needed to load acrobate on my " new " computer - that is the reason I couldn't download from the royal rife site. Finally got it all straightened out and now have the plans. Thanks so much for taking the time to send them to me. Cheryl hi lenai have a big time problem sleeping without a high protein supper - which is low blood sugar related.i was so excited the other week when i slept 8 hours straight - i had done 2 niacin followed by eggnog. doc said it was the l-tryptothane in the milk that did it... i tried that for a week or so with limitedsucess... i think the milk clogged up the liver... but if you do try it, she said you need something with HIGH FAT CONTENT - don't get the one percent - get the full milk. carol Guyot Léna wrote: Hi Cheryl, You got me to thinking. Someone said that waking in the night can be low blood sugar, triggering the adrenals that there is stress, and the adrenals wake the sleeper. As my sleep is broken up into 2-hr. chunk most nights, I'm looking for a way around these wakings, as sometimes it's hard to get back to sleep afterward. Been kind of tired lately. I take 4 IsoCort a day. I'm wondering if having them by the bedside to take when waking would be a sensible thing, or whether I should just up my dose. I tend to ration things, as the endless orders for supplements really adds up. Whaddaya think? Be well, Léna Thanks, . We'll see. Guest guest
Hi Cheryl,Your mention of Himalayan salt for adrenals piqued my interest. For a very long time I'd been making my S & C capsules with Himmy salt. A couple months ago I ran out and bought Hai Sea Salt locally. I wonder if this has made a negative difference in my energy level. Be well,Léna I totally understand, . Cheryl On Tue, Jan 5, 2010 at 10:30 AM, <vegasmomof3> wrote: I would encourage you to get your adrenals tested.
