As we age, we produce less digestive enzymes and maybe less bile.  Raw foods are more difficult to digest so she might want to try digestive enzymes (broad spectrum). Oh, HCI Betaine, that can help also.

Right off the bat, she can take some alk. gold to settle the heartburn etc.  Is she adding raw garlic or something that might be a little much?  She made need to work up to some of those strong vegies.

Hi Everyone,

A friend of mine just bought a Vitamix and has plunged into lots of smoothies, raw veg, drinks and soup.

I'm paying close attention, because my Champion juicer discards too much of the good roughage and I'm eager to see how she does with hers. It's a big investment.

Yesterday she said that she's suddenly got bad heart-burn and can't figure out what to do.

I suggested that her change in diet was a bit abrupt and that her stomach needs to gradually change over to the new regime. I also told her I'd ask my wise friends here what would help normalize things. She does take ACV, but isn't sure if that's what's needed. BTW, she's not a lymie, she's 69, and she doesn't eat junk.

Thanks for any help.

Be well,

Léna

I love my vitamix! It's worth the investment. I make healthy soups with fresh vegetables and they keep me warm and well fed. I've juiced and found a way to strain the juice from the pulp. Otherwise it's too much for me. Juicing for Life is agreat book for combining vegetables for specific conditions.

Be well,
