Just thought I would throw out my experiences that I call a herx.

They are all related to the ABX, because when I stop the ABX, the

syptoms stop.

First time, it took 8 days and I felt nothing. Then on the 8th as

you know I ended up in the ER. Heart rate 145 at rest, bp not

picking up on home cuff, weak as a kitten and in total pain. Stopped

ABX and all of this diminished.

Then I've experienced all over body aches accompanied by swelling,

feverish, red hot feet. It started in the joints of a couple of toes

and in a few days had spread to my ankles. Felt like bone grinding

on bone and skin had a slight rashy look on feet. It very much

reminded me of how my dads toes looked, supposedly due to the Lupus.

Stop ABX, it went away, start it up, it comes back. I was somewhat

achey. Both of these last two happened while on Doxy, 2 seperate

experiences and 2 different doses.

Then I tried Cipro, nothing but a little dizziness, and on the 3rd

or 4th day, severe vertigo. On stopping, tinnitis is diminished and

vertigo subsides.

Finally Minocycline. Start on much lower dose and in about 3 days,

it brings on pain and as the days progress, I get the same swelling

in my feet and toes w/redness but to a lesser degree that I did on

the Doxy. I decrease Mino and symptoms decrease accordingly. I start

slow on the ABX, and incerase dose as each previous dose causes less

symptoms. A certain amount of discomfort, but managable. Increasing

and then decreasing pain and fatigue over and over with each

increase in ABX.

So like Jay Leno, HERX or NOT A HERX.
