Guest guest
Just took a gander at the brain SPECT and CFS literature. There are actually a number of studies looking at this, and frankly, the data are all over the place. There isn't a whole lot of consistency in (A) differences between normal controls & CFS patients (saw a very nice twin study but no significant differences), ( depressive controls and CFS patients, and © in studies that find differences, the brain regions affected differ from study to study. In short, the findings are variable at this point. I'm sure as more work is done, the results will shake out, but at this point, the data simply aren't converging on a clear pattern yet. Also, should anything consistent be found on SPECT imaging for CFS patients, we need to keep in mind that a number of processes can yield the differences observed on a SPECT scan.... making links between brain SPECT in CFS and other physiological findings would be, alas, quite premature.
