Guest guest
About 10 months ago I posted that my daughter had tonsilitis and the ENT wanted to perform a tonsilectomy. I wanted to try abx and so we disagreed. He did prescribe clindamycin, which after 1 tablet gave her diarrhea, and I quit. I wanted to use low-dose mino or doxy, but she's only 8 and don't want to stain her teeth. So, I tried low-dose zithromycin (125 mg per week) for a few months. 10 months ago her tonsils were so swollen that they were kissing...today they are only slightly swollen, which appears to be a reduction of about 80% in size. Her pediatrician thinks she'll do fine now. I keep monitoring her and she is doing well. My older daughter had a tonsilectomy years ago...I regret not knowing this. She likely would not have had to have surgery either.
