During a Niacin flush, the capiliaries close to the skin expand, and

there's increased blood flow. SO if there's abx in your blood, then

the abx will be carried to where ever those capiliaries go.

I don't know if other blood vessels are involved with the flush

though - I'd have to look that up.

I did a few Niacin flushes this winter using Niacin for no particular

reason other than thinking it might be a good thing to get blood

racing thru a few areas while I was off abx. I've often wondered why

cetain areas of the body can get SOOOooooooooooo red and hot, while

others do not. I had one elbow, one knee and my butt get

unbeleivably hot for about 10 minutes. It have never gotten the

itching with the flush though- even though I know it's a release of

histamine that dilates the capilaries.

Do you itch when you flush?

I used to take niacin for the migraines. It was marginally helpful.

What I always wondered about was why would some days I have extreme

flushes and other days have none? I tried to tie it to something I

was eating or not eating, time of day, etc. There seemed to be no

correlation. Some days I'd feel like my whole body was on fire. I

made the mistake of taking a shower after niacin once, and when the

flush hit, I almost passed out. Other days, zip.

Any ideas why?
