Guest guest
" Note the enormous concentration of tetracycline needed to inhibit cysts, much greater than that achievable in humans. " —Alban PS; DR. 1999. This is from the first page of the document Nelly linked us to, which I've looked at before. I'm almost certain I heard someone attesting to the superiority of tetracyclines for inhibiting cysts the other day on Lymenet, with no reference to a required concentration " much greater than that achievable in humans. " Of course, it could turn out that humanly achievable concentrations have some cyst-inhibiting value, but that is clearly not what the science is reported to have found, in this reference. I mean, they found just the opposite, that the concentrations achievable in humans do NOT have that effect. Maybe its true of other diseases as well, but boy howdy, Lyme sure racks up the weird applications of things. The CDC says " these are not diagnostic criteria " and of course clinical medicine mostly says in reply " yes, they are diagnostic criteria, as far as we're concerned. " The other day on Lymenet someone was trumpeting a study " proving " that Rocephin " promoted cysts. " I read the abstract. It said the Rocephin killed more spirochetes than the other antibiotics, and that all of them left cyst forms intact. I point out the discrepancy, its almost like I farted in a museum. Where does it come from, this somber tone in which facts are stood on their heads or made to perform impossible tricks of logic? It really does seem rather desperate, as if admitting the awful truth would somehow cause one to bleed from the eyeballs. Yet the truth does not seem any more awful to me than these declarations. Sometimes Rocephin works well, as intended, sometimes it doesn't. That's disappointing, but how it is an improvement to say " Rocephin never works, period, " is beyond me. It also seems less than honest, since every time someone says it a dozen patients will pop up right away and say " I got better on it and am still better now. " And no, I'm not just saying that because my very own ticket to the Rocephin lottery is due to arrive soon. Someone should compile a list of everything that might reasonably be suspected of having action against cyst forms. It does worry me that I may not be able to tolerate flagyl. I'm not sure yet whether I can tolerate any of the azoles (pronounce that right, and it sounds just like...) Anybody got a list they'd like to share of alternative cyst-busters?
