Guest guest
I'd like your opinion: I have an RA friend. She's been on almost as many abx as I have and has pulsed them as I did. One of her (non-related?) symptoms was s nasal stuffiness that would come and go- sometimes quickly... she never caught colds. Thought it was weird allergies. Post abx therapy (about 1.5 years- various abx/combos) her RA seems stable (but not gone). But the nasal stuffiness, just in the last month has turned into some sort of sinus infection - complete with yellow snot.. something she never had before (here nose was always dry - never any mucous, rarey caught a cold, and even then only clear nasal discharge. So, the 24million dollar question is- 1) Has her immune system kicked into gear, and actually fighting something that has always been there.. 2) or is this something new totally unrelated (and god forbid) something resistant from the abx use. Guest guest
The arthritis she is suffering from, seeded from her nasal, throat, sinus. If you went in and inspected the bone in the facial region you'll find the bone is NOT WEll.This is like a semi necrotic scenario wherby the above mucous membranes are constantly inflammed till the tissue is burnt out and can no longer support inflammation (granulous). There's a lot going on and most people on these forums have severe sinus issues that see's cracks develop in the skull region which leak cerebral spinal fluid and you develop severe headaches from your brain not being kept nicely in it's spot. I'm sure one guy kept pestering some cfs site about spinal fluid pressure not being right causing alot of problems. The arthritis and knee and hip replacement crowd alway's get path reports back displaying NECROSIS, CYST FORMATION. When your a long term sufferer it's very hard to get your bone back from the dead. She never catches colds because she has no room with her intracellular infection taking up all the spaces. Yellow normally can signify staph areus but I don't guess therapies I check and go hard with the drugs while they are working. That nose thing is allergy flaring inflammation.Basically get into a sick building or find a bad environment and your bugs fire up there toxins which start the inflammation process going. I realise the importance of not firing off the inflammation cascade, which is also driven by food choices. So learn not to eat inflammation triggering food and keep your environment inflammation free by keeping it rich in oxygen and clean of dust. SO TO ANSWER YOUR 2 QUESTION AT THE END OF THAT I would firstly do a full blood count looking carefully to obtain mid range figures to say you have enough complementary bone marrow to meet your requirements of having a complete immune system pumping out the cells as the need arises. Also very important is THICK BLOOD you can't have an mbulance reach a crash site on a freeway if the traffics gridlocked, the same applies to our blood clumped platelets bad red cells are like a freeway accident and the immune system can't get to the site it's most needed at.I think you'll find a sort of answer to your other question in the big picture above. tony the terrible > I'd like your opinion: > > I have an RA friend. Guest guest
Barb, two additional thoughts. Does your friend's mucous taste salty? That's a common sign of staph aureus. But it could be another staph, or pseudomonas too, which is really hard to get rid of. Another cause of thick mucous is a fungal ball in the sinuses, which could have developed with all the abx she took. Does it smell really bad? That's a sign of fungus, too. Perhaps she could visit that sinus specialist, Dr. Tichenor in New York? He seems to have a much more comprehensive understanding of the sinuses than most. http://www.sinuses.com/regimen.htm If the mucous is really bothering her, I found Guaifenisen (Robitussin) to really help in thinning it and in reducing production. And I had no side effects, even after weeks of using it several times a day. penny > I'd like your opinion: > > I have an RA friend.
