Guest guest
Hi Jane! My Primary Care Doctor called and thinks I should go to Stanford and see Dr. Jackler, M.D. He's a Neurotologist. Looks to me like he's mainly a surgeon - head and neck. "His clinical interests lie in tumors of the ear and temporal bone with a special focus upon surgery ofthe posterior and lateral cranial base. He has contributed a number of widely utilized innovations designed to enhance exposure of inaccessible intracranial umors located adjacent to the brainstem." Is that scary or what!!! I asked my doctor if this doctor knew anythign about Hyperacusis and he hesitated and said I don't think he deals with that...so my doctor is still not recognizing what I THINK I have! Whatcha think? Is it a waste of time to go there - (by the way, Medicare would pay for this) - or maybe he could give me information about Melvina Levy - although I suppose they are oil and water! Don't even know about each other. Yuk! By the way, my cell phone is . Will definitely be praying for you, your trip (that the noise isn't awful!) and that this is a great answer for you!Jane Parks-McKay wrote: Norma: The ATA, I think, has a list of all the folks who have been trained in TRT and if you ever have a question about whether someone does that, Dr. Jastreboff at Emory is accessible via email now and will confirm whether someone has been through it usually. He's good about getting back fia email right away. I know we've chatted about all of this on the phone and do talk with each you are considering to make sure it's a match. Rapport, convenience and practice orientation are things I have found are really important as per the ATA. Jane Norma ")))> Yahoo! Mail Bring photos to life! New PhotoMail makes sharing a breeze. Guest guest
Thanks Norma, well if in doubt, call the office of the person they want to send you to, especially since he may or may not know about Hyperacusis. I did go through the Chair of Audiology there and they said no, they do not deal with Hyperacusis there and that I must go to someone who has been trained in it. Believe me, you, I called tons of places and inquired and came down to...traveling. Yucko, this is such a pain in the gazoo getting all these medical records, packing, making sure the home front is running, etc. but it will well be worth it. Whew, all this for 3 days away, 2 days of flying and all of these confirmations I'm having to do to make sure everyone is doing what they are supposed to do to keep my life afloat for 3 days. Ok, ok, I will hush. We have to keep our eye on the goal and our goal is US! Good job, keep on digging, keep on, keep on... Jane
