Guest guest
I make 64 ozs at a time with my SG6. It can take 24 hrs. <at times> to make that much at about 20ppm. It is set up and calibrated to make 16 ozs. Even that takes about 4 hrs. dialed in at 20ppm. I used a bubbler with it for a time. No longer do that. There is enough question as to what we may be producing with a bubbler system. I would not hesitate to get another. I will wait and get the SG7 though. Want that ability to make a gallon at a time! Guest guest
Hi Toni, I have an SG6 but have not tried making more than a quart at a time. You could ask Trem at www.silvergen.com though. I do know that if you can find the gallon canning jars it will fit a standard wide mouth jar. I know they make them, they are just hard to find. I have found half gallon jars during canning season at some grocery stores. Is the ice tea jar mouth the same diameter as a wide mouth canning jar. If so it will fit. Just measured a wide mouth quart, it is 4 " across, inner diameter. Garnet > <<<anyone can buy my silvergen sg6 for 70 bucks.>>> > > Just thinking if I would like the Silvergen.... Guest guest
Trem recommends quart size batches as the best. Half gallons if you wipe the electrodes down during production a time or two. But he told me quarts are best. To make gallon batches I use a home-made generator, but it is fiddly to set up, and there end up being wires and tubes all over the place. I use a fish bubbler for it too. paula Toni Pralle wrote: ><<<anyone can buy my silvergen sg6 for 70 bucks.>>> > > I never >catch it shutting off so haven't been able to narrow the time down. Guest guest
Connie, That is a half gallon, how do you get the SG-6 to sit on top of a half gallon jar? Most of my jars of that size are wide-mouth and the SG-6 doesn't fit. Do I need to find a standard mouth half gallon jar, or do you have a clever adaptation? I have a few, but they are very, very old, and god knows what has been in them. Actually, with my homemade gen, I just don't worry what the bubbler might be introducing, as the CS is usually perfectly clear and entirely stable, which is to me an indication it isn't introducing much. I have actually made a lot of yellow CS in my gens without bubble stir, where the top of the generators are closed and no air is being forced in. TIA, paula horne wrote: > I make 64 ozs at a time with my SG6. > It can take 24 hrs. <at times> to make that much at about 20ppm. > It is set up and calibrated to make 16 ozs. Guest guest
You're right Trem, it does sit inside the jar mouth, but it fits securely. Thanks for the info! Guest guest
The ''lid'' on the generator, fits perfectly into the inner diameter of the jar.
