Guest guest
The question about using Vet supplied DMSO that someone asked recently bothers me too. Actually, I didn't know anyplace else to get it. I have used it topically but the bottle I have here says " 99.7% DMSO Pure " but follows that with " For Industrial Solvent Use Only. Not for Drug Use " And that is why I am worried about using it internally. Are most people getting something else - somewhere else - that is safer to swallow or is this stuff really OK to swallow? Guest guest
The danger is heavy metal contamination in DMSO that is not intended for internal use. What I have read so far is to be very wary of anything less than 90% pure. The vet supplied DMSO that I buy is better than 99% pure, would have to check the label to be absolutely sure but I think it is 99.9 couldbe 99.7. When I consider that the heavy metal exposure from eating fish or having mercury amalgams in my mouth is much more than any DMSO that I am swallowing, risk VS benefit etc, I feel safe. But it does not mean that it IS safe. There are heavy metal exposures in many of our environments, not the least of which is breathing car exhaust. I do regular heavy metal detox because of the constant exposures. But if you want assurances about the small amounts of DMSO that you might use it would be best to put your mind at ease and find an alt health practitioner that can prescribe pharmaceutical DMSO. This is the quick answer. There is much more to this issue, but it takes time to research. I hope to find and post more information on this topic in the future. But please be aware that there is much mis and dis information about DMSO. It is important to make your own choices and check out all sources of information until you feel comfortable. If it is stressing you out then you may not be gaining a net benefit by using DMSO at all. Don't mean to be flippant. Just my thinking... Guest guest
I bought the Vet DMSO also (didn't know there were other kinds) from VetAmerica which is also 99.7 pure. I have been using it with CS to fight a bad strep throat, 80% CS-20%Dmso. Been gargling initially first 3 days every hour or so (and swallowing) ..am now down to 4-6 times a day. My throat is almost clear. Now I have no ill side effects (yet) but am worried about the recent postings on DMSO containing acetone and such. I searched the label and it does not say anything other than 99.7% pure. Where can I find 99.9% pure DMSO? P.S. My husband hates the smell of it...lol. Everytime I gargle or put it on my ankles/feet he thinks of the time some crab meat went bad in the fridge. I personally think it smells like garlic. It doesn't bother me. Guest guest
I think you would detect the smell of acetone, it is what is in nail polish remover and has a strong odor even in very small amounts. I can smell the residue on my daughter's nails for an hour after she uses it and that has to be very small amounts. Vets use DMSO orally and IV too so the vet grade is very likely clean. It is the solvent grade, 90% or less that you have to worry about, for the most part. Again there is room for error in my thinking, but much of the fear is big business trying to influence your health care choices. Guest guest
http://www.lifesvigor.com/prod/2620/ The above source has Nature's Gift 99.9% DMSO. I just bought some from a store, but haven't tried it yet. But it has a very faint odor. The diluted version I've been using has a stronger odor. Don't know why..same brand. Hope this helps Al Re: [DimethylSulfoxide-DMSO] Swallowing DMSO I bought the Vet DMSO also (didn't know there were other kinds) from VetAmerica which is also 99.7 pure.
