Guest guest
I had a similiar experience with flagyl. sinuses and head burned like fire. neck hurt, foot hurt, shoulder hurt. took quite a bit for a couple months before starting mino, then zith, now doxy. wish i had some flagyl. it's good for pulsing to shake bugs up deep when they are getting used to other abx. i had some about a month ago. my dog had runs so the vet put her on flagyl. that night we found out the dog had gotten into some chocolate, so, I took her flagyl away! I just couldn't let it go to waste. > > > Here to report on my latest experience with Flagyl. > > I took Flagyl a week ago for the first time. > > My Doc's orders are 2 500mg ea day for 5days one time ea month. > > The first day I took just one. > > Felt a little flu-ish, took some charcoal that seemed to help. > Then 2 pills for the next 3 days. > > 2nd day I awoke with a raging headache and an obvious acute sinus > infection, sore throat, swollen glands in neck. Guest guest
Question, why were you taking flagyl for five days a month an not on a daily basis? Guest guest
Doctors orders. I have to look it up but I think the treatment plan is to increase it as the herxes become more tolerable. This was my first trial on Flagyl. I am told the herxes are worse with Flagyl than the other antibiotics and so far that has been true for me. Rifampin was rough at first too which gave me severe neck and shoulder pain for a few days. I think Rifampin also begins to chase the cryptic bugs out. Anyone who knows more about this than I do jump in here. Guest guest
As I said in a previous post, I have been doing a kind of Stratton protocol for the last 2 months. I don't want to cry victory too soon, so I'll be very prudent. As some of you know, I have tried many abx regimens over the last 5 years and although many had a deep impact on my symptoms I either was not able to continue due to extreme reactions (mainly excrutiating headaches-actually they should be called something else-also increase of inflammation everywhere to the point where I thought it was dangerous) or to worrying drops in blood parameters (severe neutropenia with the penicillins and the cephalosporins) or to very mediocre to nil effects (clarythromycine even with plaquenil which made me catatonic). I always noticed the most improvement with metronidazole/tinidazole but high price to pay in terms of HEADACHE and feeling toxic. I also suspected that I needed to take abx that have good intracell penetration from the word go (I did the Jadin protocol in 99 but one week a month just wasn't enough for my level of infection which I am sure was massive), and it seems that a combo of 2 abx (macrolide and cycline at average levels each) is what is needed as per Stratton/Wheldon on a continuous basis, the short bursts of imidazoles once a month seem to be tolerable and might lead to a gradual erosion of the bacterial load without too much of a payoff. I will keep updating if I have enough eye autonomy to do so. Nelly
Guest guest
Thanks Nelly This is really interesting we have 3 people on similar protocol. Jim, yourself and Marie. I would really like to keep an eye on you all. BTW GF Headaches are going after being on Pristinamycine for about 5 days. Early signs are interesting. Guest guest
How long have you used the imidazole (flagyl?). Once a day or twice a day. Do I understand you to say you think that pulsing the flagyl would not pay off in the long run? Guest guest
I see my Doc this week. I am going to ask about his recommendations for Flagyl again. Judging by my reaction so far I don't know that I can tolerate it on a continuous basis but since others are taking it that way I want to know if that is his goal.
