Guest guest Posted April 28, 2005 Report Share Posted April 28, 2005 Hi, I dono about adhesions (hopefully someone will) but I had nasty mystery pelvic pain, ie CPPS. I think the new pelvic myoneuropathy pathogenesis is probably correct for most such idiopathic pelvic pain, probably including alot of the CPPS seen in idiopathic systemic diseases. THis pathogenesis is based on the work of Wise and at their Stanford U clinic. They have been treating patients for pelvic myoneuropathy for several years, with, I believe, a good rate of full remission (somewhat lower for people with systemic disease) and most other patients benefiting substantially. Some patients have gotten successful care from other providers, using the same principles, including me (no pelvic pain/dysfunction for a year, off treatment). When I last knew my stuff re this, a year ago, Wise & had not published their stuff in literature but I think they may have been working on a non-lit publication of their clinics results. Examination by an experienced person with specialized knowledge (sometimes hard to find) can assess whether this pathogenesis is relevant to a particular patient. Its a non-drug treatment, because what it addresses is physical muscle dysfunction. I take it, and in order to function, I take a No Doz and a cup of coffee in the morning! Still I have to search for words I need and my thinking is fuzzy! (Those are Topamax side effects.) Guest guest Posted November 8, 2006 Report Share Posted November 8, 2006 As a mom of a now 11 yod who took Topamax for 1.5 years, I would caution to watch a Topamax user carefully. Not only did it not control my dd's grand mal/TC seizures, but she lost quite a bit of weight for a young girl, her appetite went down, her concentration was shot and wow, was she irritable and testy. We switched to Lamictal, and while she's still had a seizure on that, we've seen no other side effects. What a difference between now and Topamax.
