Hi I'm new to this site. I

reviewed Marsha 's description of

soft sound sensitivity and for the first time felt like I read

something that described me perfectly!!!

Where is this info?

I have pursued psychiatric

avenues (both talk therapy and medications) which helped in some

aspects but has not helped with this particular problem at

all.

I hear you... along the way someone put in a report that I was becoming

phonophobic,photophobic and agoraphobic. When I saw them next, I

asked how they came to those conclusions? " Well, you are

afraid of sound and light, and you don't even want to leave the house

anymore " . Excuse me! Yes, I may be afraid of sound and

light, but not because I have an irrational fear of it, but because it

HURTS me. Why can't doctors understand that it hurts

us? So I told them pretend you have a huge monster outside

your house and you won't leave the house because of that monster.

Now, are you monster-phobic?? (sorry but I don't know the name for

fear of monsters) and won't leave only because you have an irrational

fear of monsters, or do you have a rational fear of being eaten alive by

that monster and won't leave? There was dead silence. Of

course it always comes back to: " what do you thing about

that " ? Drugs can help the anxiety and depression, I agree. But

it does not cure the SSS or hyperacusis, or whatever ...

OH, and whatever you do, every doctor, ER visit, person you contact about

your ailments... get a copy of the record and the report to your

doctor. Read them and keep them. You would not believe some

of the things in those reports that you MUST have corrected or it will

come back later to haunt you.

If you find the answer to that, please let me know! I have done the

" 12 doctor shuffle " and still have it. Please repeat

above, and my post from me from the other day.... and add...

" hey, take this drug, you will all better " ...

lol... and I don't know why but all this always makes me

think of the song by Jefferson Airplane called " White

Rabbit " ... it runs through my head every time I write about

the handing out of drugs by doctors. I will have to download it to

my MP3 and listen to it when I am at the doctors office!
