Those of us who suffer from sound sensitivity are sometimes not seen as true hyperacusics and therefore we shouldn't be on the board! (That's the impression I got from a few posts there). I think Marsha has said in another mail today that hyperacusis and sound sensitiviity do not have to go together - it is quite possible to have sensitivity and not hyperacusis. To me your symptoms are classic sound sensitivity ones - not actually physical pain, but breathing faster, sweating - and I would guess increased heart rate and a desire to get away from the noise that causes problems or tell the people making these (natural) noises to shut up!!! Guest guest
oh yes, but how about asking neighbors to please be a bit quieter when they are screaming, doing the boom boxes, etc. and they give you the finger. It seems that's all we get around here in this liberal burg of California. " Don't tell us what to do, but we can tell you what to do! " I have learned with these folks that 1) they don't know 2) they don't want to know and 3) it is entirely up to us to protect ourselves; sound-proof homes, play music, draw drapes, close windows, and if you can, leave the house when such get-together are going on, and finally 4) try to move, not easy in this pricey area they call Paradise. Ok, I will hush up!
