Guest guest
>Sorry for length of query. Not very good at being concise! Hello Sue, The extra info has helped me think - here are some ideas off the top of my head... I have found that pre-period is a time when the immune system seems to be at it's weakest and opportune infections such as thrush and virals will all pop-up. Perhaps this patient has a need for much more immune-boosting help as there is a definite lack of immune ability to deal with the problem. I perhaps wouldn't consider Astragalus as it is contra-indicated in acute viral infections though I would use Glycyrrhiza, perhaps Berberis, Eupatorium cannabium and liver herbs in particular Verbena (nerves and detox). Also, is husband/partner re-infecting? Is oral sex undermining your work? (Although I don't think I would like to ask!). If patient is prone to be a stressy type then her adrenaline will be inhibiting her immune response. Also, does she each much sugar as this will depress immunity massively and lastly, any chance of food intolerances annoying or pre-occupying immune response? Guest guest
Sue, do you use (EO)and Hypericum externally as well?. You can also try Calendula, Thymus and Sambucus - plus Astragalus and Uncaria to boost immune system. However sounds like you are controlling the symptoms pretty well, so maybe it is just a matter of time and perseverence (the quality that most of my patients lack). Guest guest
Dear All (another query!) I had a query from a pt today with regards to getting treatment for her other half who is plagued by cold sores. I am aware of the topical values of and hypericum etc during an attack, but wondered if there is a hope of eradicating the virus from the system. I am sure I would treat the man constitutionally and support his system in order to avoid the upsurge of the virus , but is more possible? If anyone has some experience to share I would be grateful Thanks, Hannah Barton Mid Devon.
