Guest guest
I've been starting a whole vitamin regimin care of my doctor because of this very high homocysteine level I have. In the past week I've begun B12 (only 625 mcg/day so far, working up), B6 (17 mg), Folic Acid (800 mcg), reduced glutathione w/ molybenium?, and then two days ago, I started the vitamin C. I drinking pure ascorbic acid (500 mg) powder mixed in water. Yesterday and today, a bit after I drink the Vit. C, I start aching all over, sort of flu-y. Any of you vitamin/supplement afficianado's have a clue what's going on and why? [Possible confound to keep in mind, I am VERY sick with Bb and will start treatment next week, so the high homocysteine isn't the only issue...]
Guest guest
Seems like if I take more than 500-700mgs of C, my legs really start to hurt. I've read of others with this problem (Sandy has a great site on connective tissue disorders -- I think it's www.ctds.info -- and she mentions it the problem there as well.) Vitamin C isn't " non-toxic " like so many believe. Not saying it's toxic, but that it certainly works with other vitamins and especially minerals. It can lower or inhibit copper, for example, and increase uptake of iron... Hope this helps a little.... d. > I've been starting a whole vitamin regimin care of my doctor because > of this very high homocysteine level I have. Guest guest
Sounds like you might have an electrolyte imbalance that gets worse when you add the C without addressing the imbalance. IF this is what's going on, then you need to look at your magnesium/potassium/sodium levels. penny Here's a blurb from a C/electrolyte product. I'm not recommending it, just using it as an example. " Electrolyte Stamina Power Pak is a high performance energy formula containing 1200 mg of vitamin C with over 72 verified ionic minerals and trace minerals including all major electrolytes (potassium, magnesium, chloride and sodium) that conduct electricity in the body and help maintain the acid base balance in the body † . A deficiency of one of the electrolytes, or even an imbalance can cause a wide range of problems including sluggishness, fatigue, low energy levels and cramping † .
