On natto, blood thinners, and Benicar

Hi all,

On my doctor's recommendation, I took Nattokinase, at quite an

expense, and didn't notice any symptom relief. Certainly nothing

like the dramatic symptom relief I continue to receive from the ARB,

Benicar. I didn't find Bromelain helpful either, but didn't stick

with it the way I did the natto.

I agree that we need to be concerned about possible health risks of

any treatment we undergo, but I hope that we won't mistrust and

malign the ARBs to the point that their potential as anti-

inflammatories are completely obscured. Especially considering all

the recent bad news regarding the other anti-inflammatories on the

market. Now that we better understand the huge role inflammation

plays in our illness, we've got to keep exploring the treatment

possibilities, IMO.

So I hope we can keep our minds open. I've found Benicar to be

something I can't live without. Of course I'm concerned about the

unknown, the potential for loss of blood volume, etc., and I

definitely want to get to a place where I CAN live without it, but

for now, it's much better than the alternatives of pain, migraines,

anxiety, the side effects of narcotic pain killers, etc.

I know it's hard. We're experiencing a kind of natural backlash

against some pretty extreme claims made about a certain protocol

that goes unnamed due to legal threats. But let's try not to

overeact. Let's avoid falling victim to the same extremes that

others have embraced. I doubt if Benicar is the holy grail of

medicine, nor is it the Devil's concoction. I think it falls

somewhere in between, with a tremendous potential for helping us to

better understand the mechanisms of our illness.
