Guest guest
For those of you wgo haven't read it it yet, I heartily encourage you to do so. fa ends this rather telling document (which I shall be putting about a bit within my immediate circle if she will grant me the permission) with the following " formula " : Power + Wisdom + Love = Compassion which is very similar to one of the bases of Tibetan Buddhism, namely the Three Families (trikula) and the Lords of the Three Families (trikulanatha). The three 'families' and combinations of them are the ways in which loving-kindness, knowledge and power combine in any given individual. And the Lords of these three families are Avalokiteshvara (loving-kindness), Manjushri (Knowledge) and Vajrapani (Power)... These 'names' translate as 'The Lord Who Gazes Down (in Compassion)', 'The Gentle-Voiced' and 'Holder of the Adamantine Sceptre'... The *order* of the combination in Tibetan Buddhism is slightly different, viz., love first, then knowledge, then power, and these are, in fact, the order in which these are obtained - one has no knowledge of something one hates or fears and therefore no power EITHER 'over' or 'for' it... Alice's milking-stool analogy (which fa cites) still remains one of the best I've heard. m 'The ultimate discipline is to rest at ease in the View' - Jetsün Milarepa
Guest guest
Jesefa, I really like Radmila Moacanin's book, Jung's Psychology and Tibetan Buddhism, Western and Eastern Paths to the Heart, published by Wisdom. I met a Bon po lama recently from Tibet -- now that is quite another subject!

Of course you have permission to pass it on to others, if you think they would find it useful/interesting. Thank you, too, for the information about Tibetan Buddhism - I *didn't* know that. Sad but true, I find most Buddhist texts unreadable - I think my mind is just too linear! I love it when you explain them simply, in English, though! I totally agree with you about Alice's milking stool analogy. That's why I asked her for permission to cite it! love, fa
