What was I expecting of this list? Well, the excellent posts which appeared here. Minus, of course, those occasional lapses into negative complexes (probably neg. father or mother) which contain obvious projections. Footnote here: And I'm thinking back to several posts of recent vintage...... Jungians have to be especially careful about falling into complexes because we spend more time working with unconscious material than any other discipline or psychology. I've seen several unfortunate situations arise in this area because we who dabble in Jung (and I include some analysts) don't respect the unconscious and feel that we're immune from its vagaries. I see this on this List. In outer life careers have been ruined because of forgetting the dangers. Let me suggest to any of us who are going to study Jung seriously that we regard unconscious contents as " radioactive material " that will burn. That doesn't mean that we should refrain from this explor-ation. But anytime we are aroused in some way by what someone else says or does here, we should quickly take notes, because we have got to do some work with ourselves here. Whew! Looks like I got off the trolley here. 2. The future? May I suggest that we see Jung as the initiator and founder of the most important psychology that has existed up till now, but also see the value in how Jung's best interpreters may have wisely developed it further (it must change, it must grow). 3. What would I see to like or like to see? More introspection when challenged. More simple deleting if someone is rude or spiteful. Don't fall into someone else's complex. 4. What would I not like to see? Less rudeness and spitefulness. AT the same time not to worry if we sometimes get off the subject. Deviations that go on too long will usually die anyway, unless we keep watering them. 5. Vision statements? Let's " dance with the one who brung us " . Otherwise, I usually dislike vision statements unless there are some misspellings. Good for a few laughs. Now, visions I like. 6. Captain? Remember it was the captain who brought down the Titanic. How about a chief petty officer? Hey, how about yourself? 7. Names? How about JUNG-FIRE? or JUNG-FUN? so we can take ourselves a little less seriously. Remember, " a soft answer turneth away wrath. " . Then again, maybe everything is O.K. as it is. Best wishes to all Gene Baker
