Guest guest
Wh-a-a-t? One of my most significant symptoms is that I MUST eat -- and it MUST be protein -- frequently it MUST be red meat; nothing else will help. Otherwise I get sort of weak and very uncomfortable. Can this be thyroid? How does this work? Terijo Subject: Re: Wow!! Some adjustments needed! I would say your jitters have more to do with not having eaten for an entire day plus the caffeine on an empty stomach, and nothing to do with the thyroid med. You can't get away with that any more, when you have thyroid disease, and neither should anyone be doing that. Guesswork: IF you're actually feeling " hyper " a lot of the time maybe adding 25 mcgs of T4 to 1.5 grains Armour. After all, that's all it is when the doctor says to do it, guesswork until the next lab testing, or better yet, going by the way you feel. If you're feeling wonderful, your thyroid isn't being stimulated, and your heart rate isn't up to the moon, why change it at all? Only if you're feeling generally bad. Going without eating like that is GOING to make you feel that way. Texas
Guest guest
This is why I don't understand how other hypos can not not think about eating because I have EXACTLY the same symptom that you do. Since I've been hypo, I MUST eat every couple to 3 hrs, I MUST have beef within a 24 hr period or I'm weak as a kitten, nauseous, and my brains are totally scramble. Chicken, pork, fish won't do, it HAS to be beef! I can remember when eating every 6 hrs or so was normal, I ate beef possibly 3 times a week, but this constant craving for beef only started about the time I crashed from hyper to hypo. I know----someone's going to say check your iron and ferritin levels. Well, guess what, I've never had an iron or ferritin problem in my entire life, even when I was carrying my babies and having long long menstrual periods. All the doctors I've ever been to since I was around 18 yrs old clear up thru the CBCs I had done back in September of this yr say that I have a blood count like a stevador in a bull fight. They're perfect----high where they should be and low where they should be. So what's the mystery about this beef craving since going hypo? I don't know, I wish someone did. There's got to be something to it besides iron, ferritin, or just taste buds. I'm not exaggerating, I literally get ill if I don't have it once in a 24 hr period. Tx Re: Wow!! Guest guest
I wonder if those of you who feel the need for protein, especially beef, are blood type O and possibly even O-negative. I'm hypo and I posted awhile back about my good results from eating according to my blood type. O's are supposed to have a lot of protein, and beef and buffalo are categorized as highly beneficial for O's. I'm O-negative, and O-negatives need even more protein. Once I started eating more protein, then I really began to feel when I needed it, which is every 2-3 hours. I have high-protein, non-meat breakfast and snacks between meals and usually have meat (beef, chicken, salmon) at lunch and dinner, with beef or buffalo usually once a day. My nutritionist warned me to always have a high-protein snack in my purse for " emergencies " --I usually carry a Luna bar or homemade trail mix of nuts (for protein) and dried fruit. Guest guest
I think everyone is different. I am type O-negative and I'm hypo, but when I eat beef, I get sick. I actually feel much better and have more energy when I follow a vegetarian diet. I even feel sick when I eat eggs. I basically get my protein from nut butters, beans and various veggies. I can even tolerate soy products, yet I know that many hypo folks can not. My motto is, eat what makes you feel good as long as it's not junk food. Guest guest
Well, so much for my idea about blood type O's and protein! --Rosemary
Guest guest
I am hypo, and obviously need to eat to not feel weak, but it does not have to be beef. And I can go for the traditional 3 meals a day, although I do tend to snack some during the day. My bloodtype... AB+. I do so love a good steak though, I never feel bad after having one. Matter of fact, I can't think of anything that I eat that doesn't agree with me.
