Guest guest
I have been making yogurt for 4 years now and Here are some of the tips I ahve learned 1. Don't use a metal spoon to stir, use plastic or wooden. 2. after mixing the yogurt and putting on lid don't desturb it for 8 hours. After the time you use, put it directly into the frig until chilled. Other wise Mine turns runny. To long makes it grainy 3.I set mine in hot tap water in a cooler with lid. 4. The best results I ever had was using AE plain yogurt as my starter and I had that one going for two monthes. For some reason I don't get as good of results with the orgainc yogurt with the acidoplus and bifa......? but it still is a good consisatancy. 5 I have had good results at both 180 and 120 then cooling to 110. 6. Clean milk works at the lower temp. 7 older or not as clean works better at 180 8. I have tried the gallon jar but It doesn't always turn out, so my best results have been from quart jars. 9. When heating it to 180 don't disturb until 115 to 110 skim off the scum on top. leaving some also makes it grainy. 10. Remember not to add the starter until the milk is at 110 I hope this helps someone. Barb
