Guest guest
Hi Omeomi I am brand new to this list, but I've spent a few hours reading over posts, and found several that said effective preservatives are man made. I'm sure someone with a lot of knowledge on this can give you more satisfying info than I can! Sutton natural and cosmetics... Is there a 'natural' way to put preservatives into cosmetic/toiletry products? Has anyone heard of a cosmetic grade corn starch? Thanks for any info... Guest guest
Sorry to be confusing....I make 'natural' bath products, lotions etc and would like to be able to add a natural ingredient that would preserve the lotions etc., instead of using a 'chemical' preservative..... Does that make more sense? By natural I mean a naturally produced product.....plant root, or something like that. (Like using arrowroot as a colorant....it's a natural thing) Cori Hmm. <g> First, what exactly do you mean " natural " ? And when you say " 'natural way to put preservatives into . . . " are you asking whether particular preservatives are " natural " (however you define that), or are you asking about techniques used to add the preservatives? Guest guest
Well, other people will speak more knowledgeably than I, but I think you'll find that there really are no effective preservatives that meet your requirement as stated. (And, as a side note, you might want to check whether the natural colorants you're using are approved by the FDA for use in cosmetics. There aren't really many requirements for cosmetics, besides being clean and listing ingredients, but colorants is one area where there are restrictions.) Guest guest
I received a file from you as an attachment. I will not open this file as there are many viruses out right now. If you would like me to open this file, please resend it and include a full description of what you are sending me, and who you are, and why you are sending it to me. Thank you, Cheryl Re: natural and cosmetics... > Well, other people will speak more knowledgeably than I, but I think you'll > find that there really are no effective preservatives that meet your > requirement as stated. Guest guest
>Is there a 'natural' way to put preservatives into cosmetic/toiletry products? If you search the CosmeticInfo archive for the serch term " naural preservatives " (without the quotaion marks " " ), you should find your answer. I just did the search. It works. >Has anyone heard of a cosmetic grade corn starch? Yes. Purity 21 from National Starch. Yes it does. It makes very good sense. Many multi-national personal care companies would like to do this also. It's a worth goal. You might want to view/download a paper on Hurdle Technology that can be found at: http://www.convergentcosmetics.com/downloads/HurdleTech.pdf But, at this place in time, I am not aware of any natural and effective preservatives for most personal care products. Guest guest
HI Dremzo Who are you addressing this post too. I'm still not too sure about whether these emails are to me or everyone in general. Thanks Sutton Re: natural and cosmetics... > Well, other people will speak more knowledgeably than I, but I think you'll > find that there really are no effective preservatives that meet your > requirement as stated. Guest guest
Aha! I believe you have a virus on your pc. I have received about 5 emails with attachments from Merritt Orthopaedic something or other with a file attached. The content of the email itself just says open the file to see what I think...something like that. I recognize that as an attachment possibly containing a virus, as it has been around before. I have not opened the file and and have deleted the email. Better scan your pc, Cheryl Re: natural and cosmetics... > > > > Well, other people will speak more knowledgeably than I, but I think > you'll > > find that there really are no effective preservatives that meet your > > requirement as stated. Guest guest
Well, that certainly sounds like the SirCam virus at work, but I'm still not sure who you're getting the email from. Can you give us the sender's address from the emails with the attachment? At 07:35 AM 8/15/2001 -0400, you wrote: >Aha! I believe you have a virus on your pc.
