I think it means the lesion could be a liposarcoma so this diagnosis

must be ruled out/excluded.

, embora eu não tenha entendido a frase (não entendo espanhol), descartar

nesse sentido é " rule out " .

a descartar un liposarcoma

In a physician's notes regarding an abdominal ultrasound, he writes:

" Tumoración peritoneal al parecer dependiente de la pared abdominal a

descartar un liposarcoma. "

How do I express the last four words? My brain isn't functioning this

morning.

And many thanks for your answers on " bolus " .

It is too terse to be 100% sure, but in line with Sue's understanding, I

would take it as " ...abdominal wall upon exclusion of a liposarcoma. "

If you do not find that entirely satisfactory...neither do I. It is not

clear in the original sentence (perhaps you have additional information in

the larger context) whether the 'exclusion' referred to has been done, or

needs to be. My suggestion I think does preserve that ambiguity, but I hate

to see vagueness in such things.

Sue,

I took it to mean that a liposarcoma could be ruled out. Am I wrong?

Thank you. That's how I see it. I misread Sue's comment at first. We all

seem to agree.

Yes, it's ambiguous, and there is no context that helps. Thanks everyone!

No doubt the phrase means what the colleagues have already said.

It is clear to me, although a couple of commas may improve its clarity:

«Tumoración peritoneal, al parecer dependiente de la pared abdominal; a

descartar un liposarcoma»

=> …debe descartarse la posibilidad de que se trate de un liposarcoma.

Best regards,

Yes, the whole thing is handwritten and almost void of punctuation.

Thanks for corroborating.
