Does anyone know where in the world I can get a low cost cat scan or

MRI, ???

for the past 5-6 yrs I have 'something' in my throat , that is

getting uncomfortable, on the right side of my wind pipe..it presses

on the windpipe to the left, I am constantly using my fingers to move

the windpipe back into place. at night when I sleep I make a fist and

put under the left side of my throat so I can keep the pipe straight.

when I ask DRs about this, they shrug and say they have no idea what

it could be. so for years I have been straightening the windpipe,

its been uncomfortable.. but in the past year it has gotten worse,

apparently it is pressing on some nerves as I have a horrible

discomfort now behind my windpipe and down my throat to my chest.

when the DRs feel my throat they dont feel anything, but if they

slightly touch my throat this sensation bothers me tremendously.

I worry because my mother had her thyroid removed, she had nodules,

no cancer, but her thyroid had wrapped around her windpipe. her

sister had cancer of the thyroid and her cousin had cancer of the

thyroid. whatever is in there, is getting worse, I use to only have

the problem when reclining or laying down, now its at all times,

upright or not.. and is affecting my throat and into my chest.. all I

can figure is soemthing is pressing on a nerve someplace.

the new DR says I need a MRI or a Cat Scan........ my problem is

hubby's job did pay cuts, we lost half the check per month. they

increased insurance to almost the cost of the check we lost.. so we

cant afford insurance, and we have no cash for medical as we can

barely make living expenses....yet I need the DRs badly.

I was going to a state clinic but they wont do anything of this

nature.. they will only prescribe motrin and tell you there is

nothing else they can do for you. so I have been going to private DRs

when I can afford it.. but I am to a point I can no longer stand what

is in my throat, its not big on the outside, so no one can tell I

have this.. but its not a pain, but its a feeling I cannot possibly

describe, other than extremely uncomfortable, its like something

pressing hard on nerves and the nerves are running down the throat

into the chest. you know the little dent in the center of your

throat ?? I cant touch that without it becoming extremely

uncomfortable,. I cant touch it even just to wash my neck. its highly

sensitive. it was not this bad last year. and over the past few

months it has just gotten worse.

I cant stand this suffering anymore, but have no place to go for the

test I need so they can see what it is. the New DR said I needed a

dye test as well. and then said I may need a surgeon. I'm out of

luck.......so if anyone has any ideas where a person can get some

help .... please let me know. I'm desperate.

it just seems like there should be some sort of help for something

like this.. but I have no idea where to turn.

I know the feeling of having " something " in the throat that can't be seen

from the outside, and I know what you're talking about by the windpipe

" moving " (or in my case, when I turn my head sometimes, a slight " popping "

back into place in the throat). I don't think that mine is nearly as severe

as what you're describing, though. Believe me, I know what it's like not to

have insurance or the money to pay for these things. Don't they even bother

to actually feel of your throat? Have you tried this?----Making an

appearance at your local emergency room, being very aggressive about the

fact that it's choking you to death, right now, at this very moment?

Sometimes that kind of insistance and aggression might get you an overnight

stay in the hospital, and they might run the tests there. This is the only

suggestion that I have at this time because this is exactly why I haven't

had a scan on my neck either. If mine gets bad enough, knowing me, this is

probably what I will do.
