Hi ,

I read a post on co-cure a few months ago that that noted that

Mercury becomes more of a problem in CFS because of low glutathione in

CFS patients. I think I was Rich V. who made the post.

Al,

Thank you! I'm sure it was Rich V. who wrote about glutathione

depletion and mercury issues. His poster presentation has helped me

to better understand the relationship between the two, and how

glutathione works in the cell. It also was Rich who (via Carol)

brought us Dr. Cheney's latest thinking. I know I'm not alone in

being grateful for his input.

What really got me about Dr. Cheney's report was that he learned that

there weren't sufficient biding sites in the heart tissue to hold

22,000 times more mercury than the controls, such that the mercury

had to be brought to the heart tissue by " something else. "

Here's the quote:

" A professor at the University of Kentucky whom I greatly admire

analyzed that data. He determined that in normal heart muscle there

are not enough mercury-binding sites to have that much mercury. He

said the only way you could load that much mercury into the heart

muscle was if something else carried it in. There may be a

cardiotropic pathogen and/or an immune-system dysregulation

associated with a cardiotropic pathogen that is required to load that

much mercury into the heart. [Cardio: heart; tropic: affinity for, or

influencing] "

What could this cardiotropic pathogen be?

By the way, I'll hazard a guess that the University of Kentucky

professor Dr. Cheney refers to is Boyd Haley, PhD. He helps maintian

an extensive website regarding mercury in its various forms. See
