Guest guest
My Mom is the same way but she doesn't have any skin problems. Her skin on her fingers is as smooth as a baby's behind. She blames it on playing the piano so much in her youth. Last year she applied to the school district to substitute and finally gave up after getting fingerprinted 3 times and they wouldn't accept them. She also wanted a gun permit, and that is impossible without fingerprints. I keep telling her she missed her calling as a career criminal. Lyn Gottschalk wrote: > > From: lyn55@... Guest guest
Hmmmm.... Disability case. Lyn PETALUMA, California (AP) -- Ken Payne wants to teach, but the credentials he worked so hard to earn are worthless because he can't give the state a clear set of fingerprints. Payne, 55, suffers from a rare skin condition that leaves his hands blistered and peeling, making it impossible for the state's electronic scanners to read his fingerprints. Without prints to compare with those in their files, state Justice Department say they can't be sure he doesn't have a criminal past. School officials in Sonoma County say that without the state's OK, they can't hire Payne as a substitute. An attorney with a defense fund for the disabled said Payne's condition is covered by the Americans With Disabilities Act and officials should find another way to determine whether he has a criminal record. The attorney for Sonoma County schools, said the state law provides no waiver for Payne's condition. Payne said he may have to seek work outside California.
