Guest guest
Hi Gloria, Yes, most of the deadly things in the world are in Australia Apart from losing one of my best dogs to a brown snake, I don't mind them - skins like fine leather but the fact they're so poisonous is a bit of a problem. I'm far more scared, paranoid in fact, of the huge spiders we get here. I hear tarantulas are sold in garages in the US? I'd get straight back on the plane And then we have white pointer sharks in large numbers off most beaches in Australia. Despite that, it's a great place to live Janene got married just over a week ago. They've been together for a long long time and they got married in a beautiful crystal cave in the next state with a backdrop of stalactite/stalagmite formations called 'the wedding cake'. We all made a long weekend of it and had a great time. She is working as the technical manager of the AIDS laboratory in our state. She has tons of energy, is still stiff and lost a lot of weight from gut problems - hence my comments about taking notice of leaky gut. She is now on 200mg minocycline MWF and 400mg clarithromycin Tues and Thurs, which seems to suit her. Among tons of vitamins and supplements she is taking glutamine and olive leaf extract for her gut problems which seem to be much improved. Thanks to all the people who posted such nice words lately Chris. >Dear > I also think you are wonderful to run this list. I still remember >your dog who was bitten by the snake. Horrible. Too terrible!! >You used to talk a lot about your daughter. Guest guest
Hi Chris! Geoff Crenshaw here. Message: 22 Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2000 06:08:52 GMT From: " Adlard " <cadlard@...> Subject: Re: REMOVE >> I'm far more scared, paranoid in fact, of the huge spiders we get here. I hear tarantulas are sold in garages in the US? I'd get straight back on the plane << Oh but the tarantulas only " look " nasty. They are quite docile and not a danger to humans in general (other than being scared witless, of course!) However, the itsy-bitsy, teeny-weenie Brown Recluse spider, about 1/4 - 1/2 " across leg-tip to leg-tip is absolutely and utterly poisonous and will drop you quickly into a waiting pine box. But rest easy, the Brown Recluse looks quite harmless, really - not threatening at all... Of course, many know the " Daddy Long Legs " has some of the most vicious venom on the planet -- but it is harmless to humans. Not the venom, but the spider. It just can't bite us - can't deliver the old punch as it were. Oh well... (Just knew you could use a bit of good cheer!) You might find the following interesting................ .......................................................................................................................................................... "When a brown recluse bites, it injects cytotoxins that cause tissue death or necrosis of the bitten area. Many brown recluse spider bites go unnoticed initially or result in mild stinging. Some people may feel a burning sensation within 30 minutes after the bite. Then, within 8 hours, a necrotic spot may develop which can enlarge to the size of a silver dollar. If these symptoms do not appear within 48 to 96 hours, necrosis is not likely. If these symptoms do appear, the area can become ulcerated and sunken. Lesions may take months to heal. In rare instances, the reaction can become systemic in as soon as 6 hours. A systemic reaction is characterized by fever, severe abdominal pain, chest pain, nausea, and vomiting. The majority of fatalities due to brown recluse bites are in children under the age of seven. Death is an extremely rare occurrence." Faith M. I have a friend who has been bitten at least 3 times by the brown recluse.....suffered very painful sores, fever, etc.........but hasn't once contemplated buying that old pine box! Guest guest
Say that's good news! We've been getting bombarded with BR warnings of imminent death & destruction here for years (as they seem to be in the area). I never felt the need to look it up - thanks for taking the time to bring "research" to wit.
