Guest guest
Will, I'll just put my 2 cents worth in for the powerlifters. I think if your goals are actually to increase strength for the areas you are talking about you would be better served looking at a program of three-four days a week combining olympic lifts and powerlifts with assistance exercises appropriate for your weak areas. Your program looks okay as far as some of the exercise selection but to cut through the bull you still seem to have a bodybuilding orientation. We have been discussing some of the newer volume/intensity routines by Sheiko and in my opinion one that would suit what you want to accomplish would be the German 3X3 program by Korte. I have trained many young athletes on this program and the resulting strength increases and lean body mass increases were dramatic in all cases. Throw in some power cleans and snatches from the hang and some push presses and you have a great program for strength improvement. Go to Deep Squater/Strength on Line website and look at the archived routines for sample programs. I have some hybrid routines that I have used that I can give you also if you are interested. Not knocking your routine, just saying what I have suggested might have greater returns but then it also has greater effort. All the volume routines used by the Europeans and Russians in my opinion use the concept of overtraining to a point to stimulate the CNS to its max. In other words what does not kill you makes you stronger! Well not that bad. More like what does not overtrain you to the point of injury makes you stronger. These routines are intense and very hard. They require a lot of what we Americans dismiss as foo foo and that is active and passive methods of recuperation. Russian lifters spend a lot of time on recuperation and rest. I recommend Korte because I believe it is best for a novice powerlifter and yields dramatic results in the beginning. Couple this with a good diet and you won't believe the gain in strength and muscularity. You also won't believe the muscle soreness and overload but its worth it. There is really no secret to this stuff Will but a bunch of really hard work and some effort involved in routine experiementation and study. Eddie White Blue Springs, Mo.
