I posted this link to Samento for all to read, but was also hoping

for any feedback that may be available in the group. So, now I ask,

has anyone in the group tried it? Is there anyone in the group who

knows something about it (SAMENTO)? I am currently doing IP-

6/Inositol, Transfer Factors, N K Stim, high dose niacin, glut./ATP

injections, vits/mins, 200mg/doxy, pulse 500mg zith. twice a week,

and I can feel progress, but want to add more to my regimen. tia

ps. I have read a little about people with myco taking it, but

theres not much on it. I have also found a little on it that says it

can be used as a broad spectrum infection fighter. One thing that

really intrigues me is that it is also professed to be a cellular

reconditioner.

Have you looked at Lymenet about this? I have no experience with it,

but many there do. It seems to keep coming up, too, as another group

of patients hear about it and decide to give it a try.

I've read quite a few enthusiastic reports, but also some dire-

sounding warnings about tendon issues from people who feel that

Samento and the quinolones are so dangerous in that respect they

must be avoided.

(I am doing much better on a quinolone - Levaquin - than I did on

the macrolides, but there ya go...)

I think the only reason I haven't looked into this is that my Lyme

diagnosis is fairly recent, and I have a lot regular antibiotic

treatments to try. Nothing I've read about Samento suggests strongly

that it is better than antibiotics, just a viable alternative. And

again, I'm not well informed enough to assess any of those claims.

I'd like to learn more as well, but am running very low in the

initiative department...so I hope you get some more useful replies!

Cheers,

I am on samento. I was started on this first to lower my high

bacterial load and responded to it very quickly.

It would seem a viable alternative for those who do not want to take

long term high dose ABx or who who cannot tolerate them. Some LLMDs

are adding it to their more established ABx protocols now too. One

PWMS has been posting on Eurolyme recently, she had babesia and

borreliosis, the herxes from ABx were having an adverse effect upon

her quality of life. She first used artimensinin and then samento,

not only are the herxes more bearable with these but she is now

making impressive progress including regaining some movement in her

legs.

Samento's action as an immune modulator seems to be popular as well.

Yes it does have low levels of quinolines. I was herxing badly

whilst trying to do some gentle physio, and ended up in terrible

pain, I suspected the quinolines in samento but now I know it was

just bad timing. Samento should not be used by those who cannot

tolerate quinolines but I doubt it would do the amount of long term

damage the higher doses in this group of ABx do.

Many of us are combining it with other agents including the enzymes

used for ISAC. I posted a thread here recently about nattokinase. I

know that some LLMDs are recommending using both natto and samento,

having learned a lot about both of these I can understand why it is

clearly working well in some cases.

No one ABx or Abx combo is working for everyone, samento does not

work for everyone either, I suspect this is in part because there are

different strains of borrelia and other infections involved.

The main advantage of samento seem to be that it takes less of a toll

on the gut flora, liver etc than high doses of long term ABx do and

it theoretically treats a wider range of infections.

Cheers, Tansy

I'm sorry that I do not have any results to convey here, but I just

started this suplement last week. From my reading the literature it

is not a quick fix, so I best leave the comments to those with more

experience.

Thanks

I wanted to post an update as it has been a while since this topic

orginated. At that time I had just started the Samento that I ordered

from samento.com

Anyway, I am taking a breather.....I've been off of the supplement

for three days and am not looking forward to starting again. I did

not start any other supplement or vitamin during this period so that

I could say whether it made me feel better, worse or nothing at

all.... I don't know exactly how to describe my experience except to

say that it definately DID SOMETHING..........

I experienced one of my worst herx's to date, except for the Mepron

fiasco (went coma-like) I could not give you definative symptoms, I

keep referring to feeling flu-ish. I just felt like sh*t warmed over

to put it mildly. During these spells, the word " malaise " keeps

coming to mind. There is even the mental blahs.

I am going to stay off for a whole week before starting again. I am

not sure if I will start back at the same dose or lower it a notch. I

may keep it the same just to see if I react the same.

I just wanted to post an update

Hi Peg

I started taking samento in October, was surprised by how quickly I

resonded to it and the level of herxing. Second major herx came about

on a higher dose and just got worse over time, after two very short

breaks I had to stop taking it until the worst of this second herx

was over. I started back on a very low dose and am increasing it

slowly.

I decided this second herx had become counterproductive and my body

was unable to cope or shift the biotoxins produced; once I stopped

the samento it began to feel as though the necessary detoxing was

possible again. I have decided never to go through such a prolonged

severe herx again.

The good news is that during the last three three weeks I have

expereinced less intense malaise than I can remember feeling for many

years, this is very encouraging since until then I only had a few

brief hints that maybe something good would come out using a samento

based protocol.

Cheers, Tansy

it does sound " herxy " to me. Every antibiotic that has felt like

it 'worked' for me had a stage where I felt fluish, weaker and

dumber than usual. I have a hard time making myself lie down,

normally, but my version of 'herx' usually leaves me no choice.

And yes, there is a dimension of mood to it that is unpleasant.

Otherwise, to be honest, I could enjoy the fatigue and stupidity,

because they cancel out some of the pain and seizure-like activity.

LOL, what a wonderful thing to be celebrating.
