Guest guest
yes, I had been to the ER a few years back when it was starting to get bad, they charged me $469.00 and told me they were not equiped to do any type of testing on a thyroid and for me to go see a DR about this. so I did, and have been going to various ones for the past few years. most of the DRs will look at me, some will shake their heads , sonme say they have no idea whats in there, and then others will say we need an MRI.. but I also need $1500.00 ......we dont see that much in one month, let alone for one test...I cant pay that for a test and still pay my rent and utilities too !!!!!!!!!!! so its one or the other,. the thing in my throat has been bothering me a lot for over 10 yrs, but its getting bigger and now I cant find a position that is comfortable anymore. I use to make a fist, tuck it under the left side of my neck to keep the thing in my throat on the right from pushing the windpipe over. now I cant do that. when the DR feels my throat they barely touch the skin, they feel on the front by the dent then each side of the front and they are done. and its all fine there. the thing in my throat is not on the front, it starts from the right side and goes around to the back of my throat, the only time it can be felt is if I push on the left side of my throat , it pushes something huge over to the right side, and then when you feel the right side it feels like a ping pong ball is in there...but its hard, and then it goes around the back of the windpipe. and now the sensation is down my throat and into the chest about 6 inches down from the collar bone. I have no clue what this is. and not a single DR has a clue either. but there is nothing on my throat outside to indicate anything wrong as its all internal. I cannot sit, stand, lay or anything now without the horrible feeling, something must be pressing on the nerves. is there anything else that can do this ??? maybe it has nothing to do with my thyroid, but all I know is where it is and its now putting undue pressure on my windpipe. sometimes I will gag or cough. if I were to feel my neck right now, it feels slender and fine, but to the right side, the neck muscles seem to be puffed out a bit...and this is the ONLY thing that can be felt unless I push the item over to the side with my hands. whatever it is, I can move it side to side. I just grab my throat and on either side if the dent or dimple..whatever its called... the trach ?? I can get fingers on either side, and then just move side to side..the whole thing moves, the right side is twice as big. I could not do this 10 yrs ago, but over the years its getting to be a real problem. my mother had her thyroid removed, and she said when they did, they found it had wrapped around her windpipe and was in the back. so this is the only reason I thought it was the thyroid, but I could be wrong, it could be something else in my throat... I just dont know what.......but the DRs dont seem to care really. I guess they are waiting til something really serious happens to me before they will listen to me. so right now I am trying to survive with it. if I could only find a low cost test, we coudl find out what it is and see how to correct the problem. > ________________________________________________________________________ > ________________________________________________________________________ > > Message: 1 > Date: Wed, 31 Dec 2003 18:39:12 -0600 > > Subject: Re: does anyone know ..... > > I know the feeling of having " something " in the throat that can't be seen > from the outside, and I know what you're talking about by the windpipe > " moving " (or in my case, when I turn my head sometimes, a slight " popping " > back into place in the throat).
