Guest guest
IMO, it makes a difference as to why you're pulsing, and with what dosages. (I'm not a fan of low dose, unless one is ramping up with it for desensitization). SHORT ANSWER: I pulsed everything I took for the 1.5 years (which was during the time I mostly felt like crap on abx). It didn't matter what the label attached was to my symptoms while on abx/abx/combo's (i.e. herx, drug reaction, recurrence of old symptoms). I thought my body needed to recover, from what-ever - then I'd resume the abx. In the long run, this worked very well for me. LONG ANSWER: I was 25+ years untreated Lyme, and during that time there were defnitely bacterial replication cycles every month, year, and big bad ones every 5 years. I was using every ALT.Therapy practically known to man, and I think was keeping myself somewaht functional, although I was trending downhill over time, and every 5 years got tagged with yet another dx from the medical establishment. So- point being - I was loaded with Lyme colonies, and pretty worried about the ones in my head. I had a 10 year on-going Uveitis problem, with optic nerve involvement, and alot of neuro symptoms. When I started abx, I had a herx by classic definition which almost landed me in the ER. (menningitits like symtoms, fever, , etc). I made the decision with my Doc, that I would pulse all my abx, as I had very severe flash-back symptoms. I pulsed abx when most everyone else who had Lyme was telling me I should be taking them continually, and toughing it out through what they were calling herxes. I didn't call them herxes, because with the exception of the first herx, the latter adverse reactions were identical to what I'd experienced during untreated Lyme. So rightly or wrongly I'd stop the abx untill I felt better. My goal was to kill bacteria. Not just inhibit them. Dosages for monotherapies in the beginning were maximum for my body weight. Dosages were adjusted for later synergistic or additive effects of combos or triple abx therapy... I figured, if I could help it, I didn't want to be on some dose for life of abx every day or every other day or twice a week for maintenance like the folks with cystic fibrosis. wrote: I would love to hear from others on the gist of Pam's question, about pulsing to avoid prolonged, intolerable herxheimer symptom exacerbation.
