Guest guest
I hear ya! It's just not that simple is it? Here are some decent documents you could print the relevant pages but it is not condense to 1 page is it? http://www.dh.gov.uk/prod_consum_dh/groups/dh_digitalassets/documents/digitalass\ et/dh_124526.pdf http://www.who.int/foodsafety/publications/micro/PIF_Bottle_en.pdf > > Does anyone have a clear, simple (ha ha) mom-friendly one-page sheet that > summarizes what has been discussed on this thread wrt prepping formula > (RTF, concentrate, and pif)? > > > LLLL IBCLC Los Angeles >
Guest guest
A mom I have been working with observed that the bifidus bacteria in the pif won't be viable anyway just because its been sitting around for who knows how long without refrigeration.. including, of course, the dha.. I'm thinking it doesn't maintain viability if it's heated to a higher temp either being an oil.. my daughter purchased a product with bifidus and dha (a toddler cereal) and it actually smelled rancid.. makes sense as oils become rancid if not refrigerated, especially EFAs... sigh.. there needs to be some serious "truth in advertising" legislated so parents are no longer being duped! (daughter has taken to just cooking food for baby from scratch.. so much less expensive and more reliable)And seriously, the people who come up with this stuff should be made to eat it for a while, as their whole diet.. just to see how it tastes and how it feels to eat rancid food.. babies are remarkably tolerant IMHO.. re: ironing.. I had to do all the ironing in our house when I was growing up as my Sat. chore.. I love throwing everything needing ironing in the dryer with a wet towel for 5 -10 minutes. Usually dry my clothes on the line or on a drying rack so feel that I am entitled..
