With us here on the forum, it's always something....isn't it?  I just

feel so bad the Ed's health is doing such a downward spiral. we go

back to the Cleveland Clinic in 2 weeks to see if he can go off the

coumadin. That would be good.  I'm thinking about seeing if he will go

see a specialist at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.

It would be so much more convenient for us....a 1 hour drive instead

of 3 hours......and I would have somewhere to stay when Ed is

hospitalized again...family and friends.  I have nowhere to stay in

Cleveland.  It's a thought.

>

>    Sorry for the mass email, everyone. This is just simpler than

trying to retell the story to each of you individually...so forgive

me. Ed has been having double vision for a week now. We saw the eye

surgeon last Friday...put an eye patch on him and said to come in

today and see if his eye was worse and she would fit him with a prism-

like lens to fit over his glasses to bring his right eye back in line

with his left. He has a 6th nerve palsy due to loss of blood flow to

the nerves in that eye because of his diabetes.  WELL....life is

never simple ,is it??. Today the doc measured his right eye and it

has gotten so much worse (last week it was 9 and today it is

30)  that she cannot correct it with the  lens thing. He will have to

continue to wear the eye patch and she says it will correct itself in

2-3 months....6 weeks if we're lucky and that's if he's religious

about keeping his blood sugars down. She said this is a warning sign

for him....that

> he has to take care of his diabetes. He's been off work for a week

and we don't know about him going back yet.....he'll have to see what

the mayor will say. We just don't know.  We do have the blessing  of

10 weeks of accumulated vacation time and 59 weeks of sick time.  So

at least he wiil get paid......his department may fall apart while

he's gone, but we'll have a paycheck. He is very frustrated and our

life is just sad right now. I wish Ed were healthy. I hate it that he

has cirrhosis ...and now this...... we just try to keep muddling

through.

morning ? They must be sleeping late or are afraid to jump in this

conversation!!   LOL                        I didn't know Fibro can effect your

eyes. YIKES!!!  No, his opthmologist didn't give him any exercises...just said

to switch the patch from eye to eye...That might help his right eye. She said

the nerve will repair itself.....just time and good blood sugar levels.

any ways i was thinking about viagra ...i dont think the pill its self raises bp

cause it shunts blood volume away from the heart and redirects to other places

know what i mean. i will verify this tonight i mean i will ask...i think i

recall a discussion about this some time back cause viagra is at time prescribed

to lower bp but as i said i will verify my info.

We don't remember days, we remember moments.

Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our

breath away.

Jill, I am so sorry sweetie.  Just reading your post, I can hear the pain in

your voice.  These setbacks can be overwhelming and it seems to me they are

worse in the colder weather.  There's just something already so gloomy outside

and having to deal with extra health problems or burdens just makes it all the

worse.  I don't have any sage words of advice, just that I am praying for you

and for Ed.  You are among friends here and you are loved.

Hugs..........

Diane

Ed's health

Hi everyone.... thought I would send this email on to you that I sent the

family....Explains what we've been going through lately.  With us here on the

forum, it's always something... .isn't it?  I just feel so bad the Ed's health

is doing such a downward spiral. we go back to the Cleveland Clinic in 2 weeks

to see if he can go off the coumadin. That would be good.  I'm thinking about

seeing if he will go see a specialist at The Ohio State University Hospital in

Columbus. It would be so much more convenient for us....a 1 hour drive instead

of 3 hours......and I would have somewhere to stay when Ed is hospitalized

again...family and friends.  I have nowhere to stay in Cleveland.  It's a

thought.

Sorry for the mass email, everyone. This is just simpler than trying to

retell the story to each of you individually. ..so forgive me. Ed has been

having double vision for a week now. We saw the eye surgeon last Friday...put an

eye patch on him and said to come in today and see if his eye was worse and she

would fit him with a prism-like lens to fit over his glasses to bring his right

eye back in line with his left. He has a 6th nerve palsy due to loss of blood

flow to the nerves in that eye because of his diabetes.  WELL....life is never

simple ,is it??. Today the doc measured his right eye and it has gotten so much

worse (last week it was 9 and today it is 30)  that she cannot correct it with

the  lens thing. He will have to continue to wear the eye patch and she says it

will correct itself in 2-3 months....6 weeks if we're lucky and that's if he's

religious about keeping his blood sugars down. She said this is a warning sign

for him....that

he has to take care of his diabetes. He's been off work for a week and we don't

know about him going back yet.....he'll have to see what the mayor will say. We

just don't know.  We do have the blessing  of 10 weeks of accumulated vacation

time and 59 weeks of sick time.  So at least he wiil get paid......his

department may fall apart while he's gone, but we'll have a paycheck. He is very

frustrated and our life is just sad right now. I wish Ed were healthy. I hate it

that he has cirrhosis ...and now this...... we just try to keep muddling

through.
