Guest guest
Some six months ago my sister bought herself an aristrocat a British Blue ..the thing came complete with a persistent infection ...on taking it to the vet it was diagnosed with a virus ...apparently common to this breed... I'll sort that said the vet ,give it daily one tab 500mg L-Lysine an amino acid...She did the cat no longer sneezes & now claws birds from the air so presumably its cured ...anyone with any experience of this ...I thought the interesting thing was the dose ...500mg is the recommended dose for us .. -----Original Message-----From: doggy532001 [mailto:doggy532001@...]Sent: 15 March 2005 09:58infections Subject: [infections] Excellent BBC radio programme on Epstein Barr virus I caught a little of a 15 minute radio programme by the BBC called "Me and My Bug". It was programme 4 in a series and you can listen to it at www.bbc.co.uk. You will need to click on Radio and then radio 4 and then "Me and My Bug, Listen."It is programme 4, March 15th about the Epstein Barr virus and the Professor who has found out that it can cause tumours in susceptible people as well as the well known Glandular Fever. She thought it was a very clever virus because once it enters the cells the immune response is what causes all the symptoms of fatigue etc. Once you have it you never get rid of it. Very interesting, is this the same as borrelia? She went on to stress that people who had stronger immunity would not develop a tumour but she waasn't sure exactly why some people's immune sytems were stronger than others apart from cases like HIV positive. When I get more time I am going to listen to all 5 in the series but it sort of confirms what I have always thought that we need to be strengthening our immune systems in whatever way we can to beat ANY bug/virus. This is where I bang on about heavy metals and the damaging effect on the immune system which people just don't seem to take too seriously. This programme sort of confirms that our immune system is the basis of our long term health.Happy Listening!Pam
