WHOO HOOO LindyGood Morning:

That is great!!! I'm curious how you eliminated ALL processed food - Do you cook everything from scratch now? I have been trying to figure out new healthy habits for myself also. I have cut back on the fat a lot and I am TRYING to watch the sodium - I had cut back on sugar products quite a while ago. I NEVER buy them but once in a while my family sabotages me we desserts that I shouldn't eat BUT I DO - It seems like it costs sooo much more to try to eat healthy and I am trying to figure out some weekly menus that I can budget for.

I'm glad you are feeling better already.

but most of all I took some spiritual steps that I needed and I need

to continue to do that to give me strength.

I'm also glad you are taking some spiritual steps - WE ALL NEED TO DO THAT. That is how we get that inner peace that passes all understanding

Lindy so lots well done bring on the dancers and the band!

This one took me years of retraining though if I'd had sensible

advice and support I can see I'd have done it far faster.

Basicaly it has been proved to me that ANY packaged food doesn't work

for me.

I was reaing a good weight management guide recently and it gave a

very detailed analysis of endomorphs. It confirmed what I had found

that being an extreme endomorph (slow moving, fat retainer) my system

handles wheat poorly. So many processed foods have wheat / flour in

them.

I did a few months without any wheat once and since then it seems OK

as an occasional treat - weep I love crusty bread! I'm not allergic

but it DOES seem to clog the system and worsen the fat.

I eat dark rye bread sometimes eg with soup and it is very tasty.

Also oatcakes " Nairns " do a lovely cheesey one that is great to keep

in the car or slip in my bag for those vulknerable moments away from

home. Oatcakes are pretty good for slow burning carbs forget whatr

that is high summat or other, means it takes a long time to digest so

keeps me comfy for longer.

Anyway I now eat a processed item about once a fortnight and I must

say I'm going off even that. Now I'm used to grilled fish, turkey,

venison, lamb, chicken, prawn salads etc the packaged foods all taste

much the same.

I'm desperate to get going again. I'm having long plateaus of three

weeks or more. Body is reducing tighter but weight stays same grrr.

Have tried eating a bit more K stuff in case I'm in the famine

syndrome but instantly wenbt up a couple of pounds. So it's soup

again tonight.

Tomorrow morning I'm trying a 7.30am swim first time in my life ever!

Early exercise say bodybuilders is the best. Gulp! Wish me luck. I

haven't been up at 7am since I was a girl - unless I stay up working

all night.

Dear Shandon't be so hard on yourself " Body is reducing tighter but weight stays same grrr. " Remember, remember remember!!!! MUSCLE WEIGHS MORE THAN FAT.It isn't the number on the scale, love :) it is the size you are. If you are toning up that is AWESOME. Also :) the good part of all of that is muscle also burns energy while you are at rest when fat just lays there. Muscle is more efficient ... once you get to a point you will start losing again. The other thing is that an awful lot of people hit a plateau and the reason they quit losing weight is that they are not eating enough food. Hang in there :) don't be so hard on yourself for not beating the scale... you are winning the war! You can see it, but because we are so tied to the scale, sometimes it is hard to see.hugsLindy

Someone told me the first 30 minutes of exercise is for the heart

and circulation system. Time over 30 minutes is for fitness and

weightloss. (I did 42 minutes today) keep trying of course.

an awful lot of people hit a plateau and the reason they quit losing

weight is that they are not eating enough food.

Oh Lindy that helped A LOT. Thank you you're a powerhouse support.

Well I just got back from doing my first early morning swim EVER. 45

mins which is standard for me these days - I remember well when it

was 5 or 10.

I can't say it was fun but it's doable. It just feels weird to be up

and about and active so early. Scary/ different.

Yesterday I walked up to the centre of the village - and it is a

steep up so I had to stop quite a few times. My son went with me and

teased and joked me through it, wonderful boy.

Husband helped me get up this morning and drove me to the pool in a

dazed heap! I am so goddamn lucky they do help me enormously.

I want to STRONGLY second the idea that we need to work within our

own capacities and admire ourselves for what we CAN do. Once I could

only walk about 10 - 15ft and the rest was holding on to furniture or

clutching a supermarket trolley like mad. Weightloss talk of " only "

doing 30 minutes exercise a day was an insane fantasy.

I began by walking that 10ft to the other side of the bedroom once a

day when I didn't have to. A week or so later I did it twice a day. I

also kept twisting and circling my wrists and ankles as I lay on the

bed. These small steps very slowly built a bit of strength until the

day I could walk 20 ft as far as the sittng room and surprise my

husband!

From there in tiny steps of effort I've got to swimming 20 lengths

standard, 30 personal best, and climbing a long steep hill with three

rest stops and a lot of puffing! But it HAS to be tiny steps,

starting from where you personally are.

Far too many advisers talk merrily of " just do this every day " too.

Doing something every day is a HUGE achievement, even if it is a 5

minutes thing. We are enormously creatures of habit and habits change

with great difficulty.

For example I started a dance class about six weeks ago. I'm still in

struggle trying to make sure I practice once during the week, even

though once I make space to do it I like it. It'll take me another

month to get once-a-week established, then I'll increase to twice a

week. After a month that'll feel OK and I'll try three tmes. That,

from experience takes a long time. It'll be about six months before I

get to practicing 3 times a week.

But what matters is getting there. Mad plans of practicing every day

generally crash with a fortnight, sometimes the first week.

My other struggle right now is increasing my water intake. I'm

placing jugs of weak squash drink in the bedroom and the study.

I loved it when I found out that the fat actually leaves the body

through piddling! so water intake is vital. I found 6 glasses a day

was hard enough, now I'm aiming for 9.

It stops the water retention too - and the ruddy doctor never told me

that either when my legs were like tree trunks.

Husband says sympathetically weight loss is a professional way

of life, doesn't leave much room for anything else. Dear man. He

hasn't noticed I'm running a business, a family (with responsibility

manly on me for finances and health for two adults and a teenager),

and beginning another business startup! But then I'm only a woman ...

(family joke).

Venceremos!

Thanks Lindy,

Truth is I am now swimming in the morning with the pool packed, and

I am slowing down due to the number of swimmers in the pool. I have

settled into a grove, arrive at the pool 7:30 am, take shower and

start swimming at 7:45 to 7:50 am, finish the swim at 8:25 to 8:35,

sit in the whirlpool hot tub till 8:50 to 9:00 am, shower and leave

by 9:20 am head off to work. best regards - Bill
