Guest guest
Jung believed that if each individual does their inner work, the collective effect of it will be felt in the community and help change it. In the same way Sufism teaches that there is a positive contribution made to the unfoldment of the unitary consciousness on Earth by one's inner work upon oneself. So, the working-through of the veils of one's own ego is actually an aid to everyone who is doing the same thing... or even those who are not. People often experience, when engaged in Sufi retreat, that they are working not only upon themselves but are " clearing " the psychic residue left in the field of consciousness by their ancestors --- that their soul, at a certain level, consciously took this stuff on as a service to the planet, to " live it out " for a time and then transmute it. When one is able to discern this in oneself or someone else, the only possible response is one of compassion, and the " holding " of oneself and others in compassion for who they may temporarily believe themselves to be is part of the alchemical catalyst for transformation of the individual and the community as a result.
