Not sure how much colonization a baby gets anyway in a typical American hospital birth.  I think they are sure they must sterilize the field!  They crack me up as they scrub with their Betadine solution and make mom get those feet in her stirrups and their little blue drape.  Cracks me up every single time.  Hello folks, she has seen her vagina before, what are you hiding it from her for? Haha.  But the scrub down, that's the craziest of all.  Maybe someday they will catch up to what we know, but I find holding my breath just turns me red. Haha.

Pam, this reminds me of a conversation I once had with an OG/GYN when I was pregnant, and had been given one of those silly gowns to wear which hide nothing. I said, " I already know what my body looks like, and if you have never seen a woman without her clothes on before, we are both in trouble! "
