Guest guest
Honey from local area - I have an excellent health food store here. I can see if they have some local honey. I didn't realize all areas had their own honey, though - unless you mean simply honey from your own state. I can get that, no prob. Re nettles - can you get these in health food stores? You mentioned you pick your own. Don't you get an allergic reaciton just from picking them? I just turned 50 and have the very early stages of osteo also. I have pets, but they are staying! Sometimes it's food, sometimes detergents, sometimes it's pets. With some itchies it helps to splash some Apple cider vinegar on it, I prefer to buy the organic kind. For hayfever and pollen, it has helped me a lot to use honey from our area every day, starting way before allergy season. I also drink nettle tea that acts a bit like benadryl and it has helped me to make it through hayfever season. Eating lots of green foods and Vitamin C rich foods does help your lungs to stay healthy, too. None of it has cured my asthma or makes it go away, but it sure has helped in regards to the severity. Guest guest
I pick the nettles with leather gloves and before they bloom, right now is the time to pick the young shoots. They will not sting that way and no stinging when they are dried. The idea behind the local honey is that the bees will feed on the same pollen that is in your area and by taking it, it helps your system similar to getting allergy shots. I get unpasteurized honey directly from a local beekeeper. You local health food store might have some. I know about not wanting to have pets, I do have a much beloved cat, but got admit that my asthma is better without one. Not gone, but better.. Guest guest
I've never found any, but I'm in the same boat with you. Without the Allegra I'm a sneezing, sniffling, coughing, snorting wreck of a man. With hives. > If I don't take Claritin D on a regular basis, I start itching because of > my allergies. Allergic to Tide??? I hadn't considered my laundry detergent for allergens! I normally use the big tub you get at Sam's Club or Costcos but occasionally I use Tide because the other stuff doesn't clean quite as well. What do you use for laundry detergent in the washer? So far I have only been able to use Dove. Everything else dries my skin out terribly but I am finding Dove isn't helping that much these days either. Guest guest
There are many people out there that make wonderful soaps. You can also make them yourself, I do it with a glycerin base and add ground oatmeal, aloe vera, burdock root to it. Also, my body shampoo and soap is liquid, totally unscented and also great for fine washables, I buy it by the Gallon from a mom and pop place in Tennessee. It' s very concentrated and lasts me forever. For laundry I use Borax to presoak overnight, than wash with hot water and an unscented detergent that I get from the healthfoodstore. I use Fels-Naphta to get stains out. Guest guest
Yes, Tom's of Maine is a good company. I just enjoy making my own face and handsoaps..also get some from friends that have goats and they make great soaps with it. Also make most of my own salves and lotions. Started all that in 'self'defense' years ago, I know what is in it. C-M
