Guest guest
Hi Barb, 100-mg every day. I use 10 year span loosely, there were periods when I attempted to stop, until my acne got really bad again. I started the minocin after I got ill, I had mild teenage acne before this, the acne got bad as a result of the illness. I did have a couple of outbreaks of Candida, and my doctor prescribed canestan (Clotrimazole ). I do see this as a possible problem. Have been on, and continuing sporadically, with the candida diet, I am on a low carb, wheat free, lactose free , sugar free diet but do have a fondness for fruit. The longest I have been on a strict candida diet without fruit was 6 weeks, however I didn't see a noticeable difference and felt better with fruit in the diet (I try to avoid high sugar fruit such as bananas and dates). I also have tried olive leaf, grapefruit seed extract, oregano oil, garlic, echinacea, spirulina , whey (intermittently - not all at the same time). I experienced a bad herx with olive leaf, grapefruit seed extract and whey. I have been alternating the olive leaf and whey for the past 10 months and haven't made it beyond the herx yet i.e.. to a time when I can take a recommended dose without being totally incapacitated. Don't know whether this is because of viral, bacteria or fungal build up. However echinacea, oregano oil, spirulina and garlic don't seem to give me a herx. I am taking echinacea, two weeks on two weeks off, spirulina 1-2 tsp daily, and also an enteric blend of peppermint, caraway and oregano oil before meals . I have used garlic tablets intermittently, I have always had a bit of a fondness for garlicky salad dressing- so get through several bulbs a week. Jo. Guest guest
Hi Bleu Thanks for the tip. Checked it out, a lot of people seem to be getting great results. It seems to be pretty safe too. You do have to take a lot - 20x 500mg tablets which is quite expensive on top of the mass of supplements I am already taking! However, I think it could be worth a try. I'm going to be trying out a lot of new supplements this month, vitamin d, B12, B6, Bromelain so don't want to overburden my system all at once. Here are some links - for anybody else having this problem. http://www.drmyhill.co.uk/article.cfm?id=238 -lots of ideas about supplements and treatments. There is also a large section of the site devoted to M.E/CFS which is quite interesting. http://www.acne.org/rate_item.php?item_id=52 -This is a great site with lots of tips, you can check out most acne treatments there and read everyones reviews. Glad to hear that the Kelp tablets are working well. Running out of brain power - got to crawl of to bed..... Jo.
