Guest guest
On a related note, Ive had way different response from IV mag than oral. Used to take 400 mg of Mg /day as Mg glycinate, usually as just a single dose, but usually with vit E and fat, which I think(?) I read increase Mg absorption. I never tried the slow-release or liquid formulas some prefer (by the way, look out for combining slow-release minerals with drugs like cyclines and zith - absorption of those will be harmed). After one or two mag IVs I almost totally stopped having muscle twitches every 30 seconds or so, which began long before I became incapacitated last summer. Not that not twitching really matters much to me. I've been getting IV'd every 2-3 weeks and after a couple doses I gradually had more stamina to deal with school, which I would attribute most likely to the Mg. I have no idea why we inflammation causes low intracellular Mg. Maybe its just a vasculopathy >> low O2 >> low metabolism thing - I know pumping ions is something to which healthy mammals devote colossal sums of energy. What the effects of replacing Mg in this powerful way might be on the attempt to eradicate our foes, I know not. In fact, I want to study more before going on with it to make sure I think its smart. Also, it has had no effect on my quality of life, as distinguished from functionality - I feel like crap. But it is usually much easier to get up 3 flights of stairs at school and stand up for 2 hours in lab, which is nice.
Guest guest
Did you ever try injection? I did that for a while and can't say it really did much, except maybe I slept better. I wondered if you thought IV was better than injection. On a related note, sometimes I do fine with magnesium orally, but other times it just causes diarrhea. I've been told to take epsom salt baths because you body absorbs the magnesium through the skin and you won't get diarrhea, but ironically even a small amount of epsom salts in my bath gives me diarrhea. So somehow I must absorb it through my skin but then my body doesn't absorb it on the inside? Not sure how that works. Doris
