Welcome to the group! I'm glad you finally posted. There is a lot of people

out there that read each post, but never say a word.

My son Brannon was diagnosed with MDS back in Nov 2001. When he was born

(4-20-00) no one knew anything was wrong until he started having delays as he

got older. His ped would never test him b/c he didn't have the physical

traits of a child with DS. Finally he tested him just to see and sure enough

the results were MDS. I never heard of MDS until I started searching on the

net. I found this group of caring people and I have been here every since.

I know you will learn from everyone's experiences and we'll learn from yours.

Take care

Hi, I'm Colleen from Minnesota. I just found out I have cirrhosis. It's from

hepatitis C, which I acquired in 1969. I've had 3 liver biopsies, 4 years apart,

and just got the results of the 3rd one. The first two biopsies showed stage 1,

grade 1 liver disease. Now this last one, which I had a couple of weeks ago, has

suddenly progressed to stage 3 - 4, grade 2, with beginning cirrhosis. The only

thing that has changed in the past four years is that I went through menopause,

I started taking Lexapro, and I started using a corticosteroid salve for

psorriasis. I asked my doctor why it would suddenly progress so much, and he

said it could very well be because I have fatty liver as well as hepatitis C.

I've heard a couple of stories of cirrhosis reversing itself. Anybody else

ever heard of that?

I start treatment for hepatitis C at the end of October. Doc said to take the

time between now and then to begin losing weight and exercising.

We are like a family here. We love to come to know others

and to help them find information and answers to their

questions and to share with them ours experiences, in hopes

that they will share theirs with us.

There are caregivers here, patients, and those who have

lost loved ones to this disease. All are welcome. If

you know someone who would like to join us here because

they have this disease...feel free to invite them.

Some lurk in the quiet shadows of just reading and

I'm Abijann. I have been here, on this group, for years.

My husband had cirrhosis and received a liver transplant.

I'm having a problem with our computer and a friend loaned

us his and now there is a problem with it. So, even

though I cannot be here all the time, I do get to come

back now and again and state my one-half cent worth of

yakking before I have to leave again.

I'm glad this group is growing and I hope you find it

very comfortable, informative, and that you are glad

to be here with us. I have met more caring people on

this site who helped me through so very much. I'm

sure you will feel the same way.

The only things I have heard about it reversing itself are related to the early

stages. If the underlying cause can be stopped, it can at least be halted. I was

drinking an enormous amount of alcohol on a daily basis. It seemed at first that

when I quit drinking that I had halted my cirrhosis. I was deemed to have well

complicated cirrhosis. I was overjoyed. Once i was off medication for the

alcohol withdrawal, I started to feel very foggy, and that gave way to profound

confusion. The hepatologist said he doubted that I had encephalopathy, so he

took a blood ammonia test. It was high. I then found out I have a medium

enlarged spleen. This is from portal hypertension. Another complication, and

indicator of advanced cirrhosis. Now I have a diagnosis of pulmonary shunting

(hepatopulmonary syndrome) which as I have read is associated with severe liver

disease. I hope like hairy heck they can halt your liver disease. If it has not

progressed very far,

everything I know says it can be reversed. GOOD LUCK. love bobby
