YEGADS!! Ray,........those meds you mentioned aren't exactly the type

of " drugs " addicts are getting strung out on. I've never heard of anyone

getting addicted to ANY of them. I've taken Flexeril, and Klonopin, and

they're nothing more than muscle type relaxers. Flexeril is related to

tricyclics, and I don't know anything about Ambien, but it's NOT a

narcotic is it?

What you had to go thru makes me so hopping mad!! There should be a

board of pharmacists that that pharmacy can be reported to for causing

added pain and sufferring to you.

Hugs...............:D, I'm glad you're back, I missed you!

Smiles, Jackie

I tried sending this to Ray and the list before, but it came back saying

I couldn't send it because I wasn't a member of the RISLG-LIST [i think

that's the name of it] The one Ray's listed with. So, I'm trying to send

this again, and according to my heading it should only be going to

chronic-pain list.

If it went through before, please excuse my redundancy.....:)

Thanks, Jackie

After a 5 day stay at Sunrise Ridge Resort in the Smokies and two nights

at my parents in Nashville, TN, I'm back and ready to take a run at

things again. The prednisone shots in right hip and right shoulder seem

to have helped. Forgot some of my meds and you would not believe the

nightmare I had in trying to get Rx refilled for Ambien, Klonopin, and

Flexeril for ten days. I kept waiting for pharmacists to call police on

me they were so adamant about not filling a written prescription I had

brought with me as I usually do on when I go on vacation to get meds

refilled if forgotten or lost. Had to have my doctor here in Abingdon

phone in prescriptions long distance before they would fill them for

same amount, etc., as on written form. Maybe I should check FBI most

wanted chronic pain patients' list for my picture! Even after he phoned

in the prescription, I still got grilled: " Why do you need these meds?

Did you leave your meds at home? How long have you been taking these

meds? Do they help your condition? Is this really your doctor or a

relative writing this prescription for you? Yada-Yada-Yada! " After the

pharmacist, pharmacist aide questioned me, they even had the supervising

pharmacist come out and ask all the same questions over again. I've

never been treated this way before when out of town and needed a refill.

It's not like any of this stuff is high on the black-market. Come on, I

only was authorized for ten days...the exact amount of time I was gone

on this trip.

It looks to me that we who have chronic pain conditions do not need

embarrassment and suspicion heaped upon us, too, by probably

well-meaning, but terribly misinformed pharmacists and their aides.

Some of you have probably met with this kind of behavior before, but

I've never had it happen to me. The most my pharmacist has ever said

is, " Your health insurance won't pay for a refill for another day or

two. " But that's just factual, not suspicious. Goes to show you that

you just need to deal with one pharmacy where they know you and don't

forget to take your meds with you when you are traveling. I had

actually laid them out on bathroom counter with my shaving kit and

forgot it, too. I felt like they thought I was a criminal/drug addict

trying to do something illegal.

Ray, thats terrible to be treated that way! But I did get a chuckle out

of the chronic pain FBI's most wanted list. I must be on that one!!

Once we stayed longer than anticipated at my inlaws on vacation..went

through similar grilings over neoral...a chemo med for heaven's sake!

But I can't believe they actually asked you if it was a relative instead

of your doctor! I am appalled at this treatment.

Gaaawd... whatta mess! I've never tried to get my stuff filled when out of

town but have often worried about what I'd do if I ever had need to. Sounds

like I'd better be prepared for some real hassles! Maybe even a night in

the hoose-gow (sp??)!!

Contrast this to the time I was in Munich, had an abscessed molar, it was 4

days before we flew home and I was prepared to wait it out using pain meds

until I got home to my own dentist. It got worse though and I knew it was

getting infected and I was running a fever. We went into a apotheke

(pharmacy) to try to get some sort of antibiotic. explained the whole

thing to the pharmacist. He asked me in German and in English if I was

allergic to Penicillin, I said NO (I'm not). They sold us Penicillin over

the counter and warned about side effects, what else I should be doing

(aspirin, which we already had) and suggested I drink a lot of juice. Took

the stuff, bought several bottles of juice, retreated to our room for the

rest of the day where I slept, drank juice, ate sandwiches that J went and

got, and took the stuff. Felt better by supper and the next morning felt

quite good...went out and did sightseeing and everything. My dentist said

that the stuff they sold me is stronger than what they can get here!! Now

my dentist and my doctor both provide me, before I go out of the country,

with antibiotics, one for my teeth and one for the kidney infections I'm

prone to.

Jackie, Ambien is a sleep medication, a hypnotic...not exactly the

dangerous , sold on the street corner type drug either. It WAS

ridiculous what Ray had to go through

BTW Ray, in my anger at all that I forgot to say that I hope you had a

great vacation!!

A great time was had on our vacation! Peace, quiet, beautiful

scenery...I even hiked a little bit without feeling too terrible. Best

of all there was no phone, no one knocking at the door, and we got to do

what we wanted to do all the time. Ray.
