One of the churches I belonged to previously also sponsored a program in which younger couples with children adopted an elderly member of the church and invited them over for dinner once a month. Many " foster grandparents " were produced under that program as families and " grannies " got together. Many people live far away from family. We all need to be involved in the lives of friends and relatives. But when they live far away we need to make our own " family " .
